Love Thursday: January 24th, 2008

Welcome back to Love Thursday, everyone!  I'm so thrilled that Love Thursday has found a home here at Shutter Sisters, and hope you'll participate every week on Thursdays.  To remind you how this works:  please share links of your images depicting love in the comments below -- your images could be symbols of love, or images which illustrate fraternal love, romantic love, love of life, love of a child, love of chocolate, whatever.  The images should be original works, and they can be to your blog, or photo site, or a flickr image -- whatever.

Love the site and the idea...

I shot a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday at a friend's request. Her dad was being buried and she knew he would love the ceremony, so she wanted photographs. I poked around the section of the cemetery we were in for as long as they'd let me.

So many military wives are buried here, and their headstones, as far as I could tell, mostly had just their middle initial and "his wife" underneath the name. It touched me - so many families, so much sacrifice. (I'm as lefty as they come but I'm a sucker for love.) This is Stella G.
