Friday's Featured Resource - Ali Edwards

Ali Edwards, Oregon Coast, Summer 2008

I don’t scrapbook. I tried it once many years ago and failed miserably. Don’t get me wrong, my pages looked pretty good but I only got 4 done. The End. But when I see the volumes of cool and imaginative scrapbooks created by the incredibly talented Ali Edwards, I swoon. Suddenly I become a scrapbook junkie. Course, I haven’t attempted it again since my first 4 pages but still, I like to look and admire what Ali has done.

When I visit Ali’s blog, I know I want to make something amazing with my photos but then I get overly-inspired and decide I’ll leave it for another day. But then today is gone. Sigh. So, when I read the invitation to join Ali in a simple project to record a week in the life of my life, my family, using my photos, featuring what I see as important today, I will admit, I got a burst of inspired energy and determination. Maybe I can do this. Maybe I’ll start today.

Why this project? Why now? I guess it’s just the thrill of having this moment in time distilled into something tangible. Something I can hold in my hands as a reminder of this priceless and fleeting moment of my life. I take photo and after photo and am usually content with that being the end result. But the idea of using photos as a springboard sparks my interest. It’s as if the photo is just part of the process. It’s a whole new perspective. And it’s as simple as a focusing in on just one week of my life. I think it sounds wonderful and I plan on taking Ali up on her invitation by following along with her on her blog to see what I can come up with. Why not?

Ali is a one woman resource and offers so much via her blog, her books, her columns, etc etc). I encourage you to click around and discover the magic that is Ali Edwards. She’s one heck of a creative gal who likes to share and sharing is good.

Speaking of sharing, Ali has offered to give away 4 books (1 copy of each title ) to lucky readers her at Shutter Sisters today. Be sure to leave a comment today to get into the running…prepare to be inspired. You have until midnight on Saturday to be included in the drawing.

I can´t believe! My two favorite blogs united in a project. As I read the Ali´s blog every day, even as relay, because I always find something new, and really, I love what she does and how it expresses.

And all Thursday (even friday), since February, for me, is Love Thursday. I've learned to look at every day looking for good things, to find hearts in the sky, and I discovered many people with an incredible talent from which I learn every day.

I love to join on this creative week.

You make me very happy. Kisses from Spain

uauuu!! One copy of each title??? I wanted, please, please!!!

I take a lot of photos, but they stay in my computer. I need to print them out because I have lots of scrapbooking materials and I know my girls would enjoy actually taking the materials OUT of the box.

A week in the life sounds intriguing. I'm going to check it out.

Being an Ali-fan but not a scrapbooker I would sooo love to win her books though I don't know if this is a good week to document, though, who knows? Maybe every week is a potential good or bad one beforehand? :-)

I've been meaning to try scrapbooking for a while now as a way to do more with the gazillion photos I have stored on my hard drive, and Ali Edwards is one of the main reasons why I'm giving it a shot.

Ali inspired me to start a Photo a Day project last year that only lasted until March. But this year...I am at photo 270/366 and counting down to the end. I love the idea of trying to scrap a week in my life along with Ali and despite my treasured procrastination gene I will be giving it a go.

I love Ali's creativity, have since the begining. Usually scrap with almost nothing but with great pictures as the base. Scrapbooking is a way for me to remember greast moments/emotions. Will be interesting to try this vision with our everyday life instead, so we can remember in a few years what the small things where all about and not just the big moments.

I am going to try hard to do this. Ali's work is so inspiring--now to find the time!

Ali is so inspiring. I'm doing a version of this project once a month for a year. It's been very thought provoking. Thanks for reading my little comment.

I couldn't agree more with you! Ali likes to share and sharing is good! I am teacher first, then a scrapbooker, and a witness of life. And she inspires me beyond the horizon. Her creativity not only with photos but with writing is such an inspiration, and I am always looking for a way to adjust my teaching of writing with her creative ideas!
September 26, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterStella
I love Ali's work. It's so inspiring--a great reminder to treasure the everyday moments. I'm planning to do the week in the life and document gratitude for the moments of grace each day. (Although it's off to an unusual start because our house was broken into--so that might put a new spin on my perspective.)

Hi, I love Ali Edwards, and am so inspired by her work, I can't wait to start taking photos next week. I am quite slack when it comes to scrapbooking and ALWAYS say tommorrow, but this way it is documenting my life. My life as it is now. Not 2morrow, not yesterday. Today. I am very exciting and cant wait to play along!

Pick me! I "think" I can do this "week in the life" project. I'm even wondering how I can adapt it for my ESOL students!

I am going to try this scrapbook project, then I am going to show it to my husband so he can have a visual of the "little things" that take up "big" amounts of time. I hope I win a book.
