2009 is my year of hope.

Here, my daughter, (whose middle name is not Hope but Joy) bends her head to investigate a dandelion, the nape of her neck vulnerable and bright. A child is almost a cliche of hope, yet so fresh is each child's face, it brings hope to even the cynics in this tired old world.
