a mother's prerogative

011108_600.jpg

Being a camera wielding mama can mean breaching all sorts of what might be considered normal boundaries. Because my photo pattern is to capture more of life’s everyday occurrences over the big events, I find myself taking pictures of the most mundane, and perhaps even the most private of moments.

Having a tween-aged daughter has reminded me that soon, very soon, the family shots I do decide to share with the world will have to be perhaps a tad more censored than they have been to date. On the other hand, I also have a preschooler under my roof and therefore still have some time to indulge myself in what I call the mother’s prerogative photo free-for-all.

Good times.

Love this moment captured. I am *sniff sniff* missing those sweet innocent days of preschoolers and toddlers. Pray for me sistah...tweens and teens only in my house now and I'm censoring much more in sharing photos.

Thank God for preschoolers. They're so fun to shoot aren't they? And, usually so much more cooperative than the 8 year olds! Thanks for the sneaks, it's fabulous so far!!!!

Oh the tweens and deciding the photos with them! I remember this growing up as a photographer mom always taking pics of us!

I love how you capture the everyday. What better way to document what really was happening?!

I took some in medias res tantrum shots the other day. I felt slightly guilty, catching her at her lowest moments like that. I didn't put any online, just shared with relatives. I figure I have been living with her tantrums for so long, I deserve to document them.

the so called mundane is what makes life, and is what we tragically forget as our children fly away from us. love this post.

"Moooooommmmmmmm! Wipe my buuuuttttttt!" This is childhood in its purest form. I already feel my tween pulling away. Thank goodness I still have a preschooler to soften the blow. :o)

I have a five year old I love taking pictures of her but I haven't mastered shots like this. I think it's those mundane times that make the picture worth more than words can say.
