At Home With Daddy

061508_600.jpg
If you were to ask my closest family and friends what my strengths are, the words "COOKING" and "CLEANING" or any other term related to traditional domesticity would most definitely be absent from their minds.  Fortunately, I met the right guy to balance out my shortcomings on the homefront.  My husband Ted can whip up gourmet meals, brew quality craft beers, scrub floors, do the dishes and fold laundry like a Gap employee.  He's also been a Stay At Home Dad to Cadence since she was 8 weeks old while I work full-time at the office.  Simply put, I don't know what I'd do without him.

Some of my favorite photos of my daughter are the ones with Daddy.  Those two make quite a pair.  They do everything together--brewing beer, baking cookies, biking to the park, hanging at the local coffeehouse or just chilling on the couch on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Simply put, I don't know what she'd do without him.

AAH%20button%20180.jpgIn honor of Father's Day today, tell us about the fathers YOU want to recognize--your own, your kids', someone else's.  And since today is the 3rd week of our Sundays At Home Giveaway, if you have an image of dads around the home, share those as well.

All comments will be entered into another random drawing for a copy of the awesome book America At Home (with custom cover).

For inspiration, make sure you check out these photos of dads by MOM~tographergiggletwig and Shama-Lama Mama.

Congrats to Maya at Springtree Road for being the winner of last Sunday's Amercia at Home drawing. Yay Maya!

Although it is simple and straightforward, this photo of my Dad speaks volumes about who he is. When I look at it I can almost hear him talking, telling me about his most recent "find" or what fascinating book he is in the middle of. My sisters and I are truly lucky to have such a wonderful Dad.

My beautiful Marcus -- who never, ever, ever tires of playing and playing and playing with our daughter, Alex. He is an amazing father and an even more amazing husband.

I love this photo of my husband and our son. My husband loves all his children but after six girls straight in a row he finally gets to actually play tractors with someone who "gets" it. The poor little boy has to deal with seven "mothers" and enjoys the time he can get away with just his dad.

This is a simple photo of my dad and my daughter. My girl resembles me in many ways and seeing her in my dad's arm makes me feel all mushy inside..like he was holding me instead. This photos shows clearly most lines on dad's face and how dark his skin has become compared to his younger days...but the loving eyes never change!

Your husband sounds wonderful!

Well, I've got to post two photos that I took this week. This one I took on a walk with my husband and son on the street right in front of our house. We take a walk almost everyday, and our son is just now getting big enough to walk without the stroller. He loves to hold his dada's hand:

And I got this one yesterday at the mall's merri-go-round. I really like how it turned out:

Happy Father's Day to all the amazing daddies out there. I know there are so so many.

I'm so grateful for my husband. He always puts our children first, always. And when he comes home from work, he drops his stuff to go right into being a daddy. He puts all aside to play with the kids just so I can work. I'd never ever get my work done without him helping in this tremendous way. I'm so thankful for him.

Sarah-ji, thank you for sharing such a beautiful photo and words to go with it. He sounds like a great dad!

Although I think my hubby's a great dad too, I'll share a photo of my own father holding my daughter. Words alone cannot describe what a wonderful dad he is.

As an infant, my son did not always have his dad around at home:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/maknj/2581308486/in/photostream/

They make up for it now at home. Dad is still the preferred parent for games and stories and lunch.

This next one is not with our son, nor at home, but it's how I see him, in my mind's eye:

Dear Shutter sisters

It's a hard day for me. I lost my dad a couple of months ago.
Here's a photo of us a good few years ago, doing dad and daughter things!

I'm a little late to the game, but I wanted to honor my own father on this Father's Day. My dad was the person you went to in our family for everything . . . from trips to the doctor to going on a field trip. My father did it all. He's my hero and I love him so!

My Husband is the pillar of our household.
He is strong, gentle, attentive, patient and loving.
He has put God at the head of our family, and continues to give us an incredible example of what Husband, Daddy, and Man look like.

We are blessed beyond words.

He does not drink, swear, or put his feet up on the coffee table to watch endless sports (other than our hometown team "the Packers" with us, in season) =)

He is brilliant at what he does for a living, and he works hard.

He loves kitchen work and laundry.
He cooks and grills, and LOVES our baby like I've never seen.

He has put me before himself since the day we fell in love.
I've never known any man so amazing as he.

Here are some photos of his goodness in action! =)

I have been reading (well, stalking) this blog for some months, but have been a bit intimidated about posting photos. The WiiFit contest got me out of the closet and since I now have a flickr account I decided to join the discussion where I can.
This is my husband and our baby girl sharing some quality time. It's not in the house, but it is in the front yard.

Hello!
My husband is the kind of guy described here on this post. He works out and in the house, part time. So he spents a lot of time with our daughter Zoe, and they love each other so much...
Here's the link to a post in my blog about him and the papa's day.
