my favourite time of day

I love twilight, particularly when it starts to get warm -- the crickets start to chirp, fireflies start to come out and you can just feel the world begin to quiet down. To me, twilight is all about gathering with friends or family, sharing a bottle of wine, some cheese and silly pipe dreams or fantasies.

Spring and summer are just around the corner. Here's to wonderful, warm twilight hours.

As the seasons begin to turn, do you have a favourite time of day?  Feel free to share your images of these moments in the comments section, below!

I love early evenings when the sun's going down. I caught a really nice sunset last week where the rays were all poking thru the clouds. It's one of my fav views =)

You know, I love the sun rising and sun setting... but since I moved to NYC it's been hard to catch and enjoy it between the buildings and through the one window in my apartment. (I do catch the sun rise for a few moments as my subway passes over the bridge into Manhattan...) Because of all of this, and the fact that I love the natural light when I'm clicking away with my camera, I'm starting to love the middle of the day, when the sun is shining bright above, brightening all my photo subjects :)

My favorite time of day is when the boys are in bed, the house is "quiet" (the dishwasher is running), and my time is my own. Now I just need a photo to show...

I'd have to say that sunrise and sunset are both magical times to me as well. I was going out to get the mail in early evening last week and spotted this sunset. I had to run back in and get my camera to capture it. So beautiful!

I'm a morning person. Coffee, news, and organizing for the day are necessities. Catching the sunrise--wonderful!

I've always called it The Gloaming...that time between day and night. Always my favorite time of day, before two little ones. Now, it's Naptime...

i also love the edge of the day. the very end before the sunset, when all is quiet. the dock has been tidied up, the boat is secure and we are enjoying our wine waiting for the sun to set.

I am torn.

Warm summer mornings on my porch with the birds, my coffee and my canopy of leaves are divine. Such an incredible way to start the day.

But then there is evening. Frankie Beverly and Maze sum it up in one of my favorite songs (and favorite groups).

"Golden Time of Day."

"There's a time of the day when the sun is going down
That's the golden time of day
It's a time that the sun turns a gold all around
That's the golden time of day
At the end of the day when the wind is soft and warm
Don't it make the flowers sway
When the sun settles down and it takes a lovely form
That's the golden time of day"

I recently became a morning person b/c I started to realize how amazing early morning is.

It's so quiet in the house and I can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea all by myself while catching up on emails and blogs.

I love the morning because of all the possibilities. The world is my oyster and I'm going to photograph it.

I love the morning because I love to shoot freshly dewed flowers.

I used to be a night owl, then 15 years ago I had my first child and my world turned upside down. I then became a morning person (as he is) and this is why:

As I was thinking about what photo to choose, I realized that my favorite time of day is when the bus picks up the boys.

I love twilight when the golden sun has almost set and the clouds seem to dance with beams of light. It thrills my soul. I've tried capturing a few precious twilight moments, but nothing ever seems to compare to actually experiencing it.

beautiful candlight capture.

my favorite time of the day has always been 7pm, especially in the spring. To me the tender greens of spring just pop at that hour of light. And I'm anxious to photograph it, but we've had rain the last few days and I haven't been able to capture the feeling I adore. here was 7 pm a couple of nights ago taken through a window - gray and rainy

I also love the morning light in my home, particularly through the kitchen window

neither of these are great photos - i'm working on that. and actually I don't like to pick favorites because I could tell you something I like about almost any hour of the day.

Sunday afternoon/early evening is my favorite time of day. The warm afternoon sun is what I need to settle and relax after a busy weekend. It's the time of day that helps me to recharge my batteries and get ready for another work week.

I have to say, my favorite light of the day is the late afternoon, when the sun floods my kitchen with gold. I can't resist pulling out my camera to shoot when it is turning all the ordinary into magic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8702729@N02/3379928745/

I am a twilight fanatic. It really is the best time of day. You put the work day behind you, your family is home and its the few precious moments you have together before you have to get back to the shoulds and must of responibility. Peace.

Very nice picture and those are the momens I like most. Evening. Morning. The light here in North Alberta is staying longer and longer as spring comes. I like when at late afternoon the light falls into the house, through blinds, reflected on the floor, walls, etc. I share with you:

Last rays of sun for me too. In summer or fall, when the light is 'deepest'. Mmmm.

I love mornings for purely selfish reason...I spend a few quiet moments alone, preparing for the day.

4:00 - 6:00, EST. Slanty light, signs of spring, second wind after school, fun playing outside, I love it!

There is nothing more lovely than a summer's evening:

http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/2008/06/everyday-magic.html

Well, maybe an autumn morning:

Or a spring morning.
