bizarre

Have you ever spotted a scene so bizarre and other-worldly that you couldn't get your camera out fast enough? Your fingers fumbling with the camera settings at lightning speed, fearing that the moment might disappear. I don't know about you, but it's moments like these when I don't care how ridiculous I look - on my knees with my head 3 inches from the ground. As long as I get the shot.

Or is that just me?

Well, I don't know if I ever spotted a bizarre scene before putting camera to eye, but I've sure spotted a bizarre scene AFTER putting camera to eye:

Okay, I had one of those moments today but did NOT have my camera and I was so mad at myself: Picture this if you can: I saw a fire truck or what some call a 'hook and ladder" you know, one with those hugely LONG extended ladders. Well, it was outside of the fire station, the ladder completely extended. I was driving and could see it from a distance and wondered why, at the fire station, was the truck outside the FS, the ladder completely extended. The closer I got I noticed a group of firefighters standing in a group looking up. I too, looked up. At the very tippy, top of the ladder was a firefighter, sprawled flat against the ladder. In his hands was the american flag. He was trying to put it on the pole. Is that NOT a perfect moment to have a camera?! My new rule is to have it with me AT ALL TIMES. LOL

You're too funny! I know exactly what you mean. This is a very major street. And - yet - I jumped out in fromt of the oncoming traffic risking my life to capture this:

The thing I love about these posts is that it makes me grow through my library and find photos I had forgotten about or never got around to editing.

While I was driving down Ventura Blvd. (a very busy street in Los Angeles) I saw something very bizarre!
It looked so foreign, that even in this photo, if I wasn't there to see it with my own 2 eyes, I might think somebody just photoshopped this explosion of water in the shot!!!

Lesson Learned Girls:
You NEVER know when strange, beautiful, unique, amazing shots are gonna arise...
So having your camera on-hand, locked & loaded is always a good idea!! LOL...
Now if I could just follow my own advice!

This was my other worldly experience.

http://www.soeursdujour.com/2008/12/it-was-a-dark-and-glowing-night.html

I've never seen it again .... it was combination of freezing rain and sleet that caused the greenhouses to glow.

Incredible photo! I know what you mean...wish those moments happened more often.
no, it's not just you. i know what you mean!

this is an amazing shot! truly as you say—bizarre and other-worldly.

mine is not so much bizarre, but it is definitely other-worldly to me.

this is a great post! thanks for getting me thinking about taking these kind of shots and looking for—or at least expecting—the bizarre.

I was sitting on the floor a few weeks ago sorting through a basket when I happened to glance up and spot a bit of whimsy in an unexpected place.

I sense a theme of "animals where they're not supposed to be." Here's mine:

i've jumped out of cars and crawled over fences through any kind of weather to capture a scene where you know if you don't you'll never get it back. you just have to. :)

Well, I'm not sure if this qualifies as "otherworldly," but it's definitely "bizarre" :

heck, it's all of us... ;-) I was in a rental car driving to our most recent wedding shoot and I looked out the windshield and here comes this gorgeous tree. I got three fast shots, fly-adjusting my settings for each, hoping I'd get one - this is the one I loved: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8702729@N02/3439095210/

This was a sunset, but looks more like some alien invasion. One of the most bizarre sunsets that I have seen.

I know I've missed a few great shots because I've been a little shy about getting closer. Thankfully that wasn't operating the day I caught this funny/cool/other-wordly shot:

This is my first photo submission. Thanks for a great site full of inspiration.

Can I add another other worldy cow to the collection? I turned the corner on an old dirt road and there she stood--still and quiet. She was so striking standing in this field guarding her calf from the nutty lady with the camera. I asked nicely if I could take her photo. She didn't say no.

I caught a moose crossing a lake last week, not too bizairre, but i had to wait and wait and move and move until I could get him clearly. I was practically dangling off a cliff upside down to get it right.

One of my favourite i'm-so-glad-i-had-my-camera-handy moments is this one. We were driving along Hwy 401 (Ontario) and I had dozed off. (I wasn't the one driving :-)) I woke up to see this:

I eventually Picnik'd it into one of my Quote Notes:

I am starting to get the speed dial of the camera down, but I have missed many a shot because I was too slow. I love the "holy cow" comment.

I came across some sheep on a ridge while driving to San Francisco.. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't get my camera out quick enough. Although I totally blew the shot.. I kinda like it ;)

I think that to get the http://lowest-rate-loans.com from banks you should have a great reason. Nevertheless, one time I've received a consolidation loan, because I wanted to buy a building.
