white noise

It's my turn to write a post. Should be easy since I haven't blogged in weeks. Photo sessions have been stacking up. But for some reason, words remain illusive. There are so many of them swirling around, shape-shifting. When I try to define them, they all rush down at once forming a bottleneck in my mouth. I try to string a few together for a sentence. But it feels inauthentic. Delete. Out comes another that feels too vulnerable. Delete.

Then it occurs to me that it's okay to let things be undefined. Maybe it's even essential, like making room for white space. Like making room for air...and the unpredictable loveliness that only happens when you're open to it.

I felt myself start to let go, and that's when I heard the mermaids giggling. Right down the hall, they'd been there all along. But my noisy thoughts had been drowning them out. Such beauty under our noses, always waiting patiently to be noticed.

What about you? What's hiding right under your nose today?

Hi. We all have strength enough to endure the misfortunes of others. Help me! I find sites on the topic: Clark howard and retirement planning. I found only this - young Retirement planning. You can buy the book on line at amazon or barnes noble. If you are just starting to ...

it is so easy for me to find beauty (as each mother does) in my baby's eyes; they are the most remarkable blue... his dad said this to me the other day: "they are truly the most amazingly beautiful eyes, we will have to teach him impeccable manners to go with those..." lately i have been keeping notes of the curious and quirky things bb daddy says (perhaps another day)...

&, per my habit, i noticed (on this glorious sunny evening) a reflection of the setting sun & a regatta of beautifully coloured spinnakers all in the door of the lifeguard station...

Very often, it is the little things that bring beauty into my life:

Thank you for this. I need to let go so I can discover what is right under my noise. I'm going to follow Mary's example and look at the little things.

Under my nose??? My (almost) 3 year old's Littlest Pet Shop toys...lots and LOTS of them, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's hard not to smile when I see them :)

As a grandmother, I find beauty (and pride) in the manner in which my son and daughter-in-law's family is growing -- and "maturing."

i posted this today before I read your well written words so full of truth and although it seems as though my daughter is about 15 years or so older than your "mermaids" the moments are still there right under my nose and for that I am truly grateful!

I see beauty in the simple things that often go unnoticed. Cars were zooming by as I snipped these flowers sprinkled along the road at the bottom of our hill.

I haven't had much inspiration for writing blog posts lately either. Then again, I have some ideas but no time to pursue them. But the other night, I ran across the origin of the word "photography," and it blew me away, so I had to write about it.

I have blogger's block more often than not. I can always find inspiration in my kids...right under my nose. When I let them lead, they take me to wonderful places.

Love this message. What has been hiding for me is that deep down, I am happy...in spite of a few things being up in the air, I am achieving inner peace. Sometimes, the garbage of the day can make me forget that, but when it really comes down to it, I am happy because I choose to be.

my husband has been working hard in "our" garden for a while now. i've been "too busy" to get my hands dirty and hardly noticed all the beautiful things blooming and growing in our backyard. he finally got me away from my computer and took me on a tour of our beautiful garden and i was blown away by the amazing things he's been growing back their. how did i miss it? how could i have been too busy to notice? well...i've got lots of pictures of it now...http://umbrellablog.com/2009/06/our-garden-his-words-my-pictures/
