We're going to Disneyland!

I take it as a personal challenge to shoot in a location where just about every other person there has a camera in hand as well. Every where you look mothers are begging their children to smile next to the furry character and tourists are clicking away to capture the Disney iconic rides and locals with the fervor of a wild game hunt. I make it a point every time I visit, to find the photographs that NO ONE else has yet to capture. It’s an ambitious task, but each visit I am certain I will get great shots. And Disneyland never fails to disappoint.

The added bonus? No one looks at you sideways when you feel compelled to lay down on the ground to get the ultimate shot of the Penny Arcade with a delicious sky. Well, except your husband and kids that is....

Our guess is that you have visited and photographed a highly trafficked and dare we say overexposed locale? Did you go out of your way to discover something else no one else might have discovered? Or framed it with your own unique perspective? Do share your vision.

I try to see it from a different point of view. We went to Disney World in July and boy.....it was hard lol. I didn't take my SLR (didn't want to be bothered with the bulk) but I had a good time with my point and shoot :)

Yes! In Egypt, while everybody was taking photos of the front of the Sphinx, I walked to the back and took a photo of his butt and cute tail. :-)

love this idea! i'm a beginning photographer, and am quickly figuring out that the unique perspectives always tell the best photos. it's something i think i can bring even to my shots of the items i'm knitting. now to be bold and get on the ground, climb the ladder, etc!

I always love the challenge of being a traveller rather than a tourist, and I try to do that with the pictures I take as well.

The Riverwalk in San Antonio is an easy weekend trip for us, and I love trying to capture the quiet unseen things.

The Eiffel Tower! I tried to have some fun, knowing that the Eiffel has been photographed an almost infinite number of times. I cross-processed my film so the colors would be playful, and decided to photograph it from a bit of a distance, and almost centered. I thought this gave it kind of a 'touristy' effect. My favorite part is that the Eiffel is surrounded by lamp-posts of varying heights, which in my mind, look like lollipops.

Yes. I've even begun to look at the world differently now. At the beach I focused in on the dirty beach at dawn and it framed my children in so nicely with the contrast of the fresh blue sky.

My photog group's most recent assignment was just that! Try to take a photograph at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens that has never been done before. Quite a difficult task...rather than take the typical wide angle sweeping photos of the gardens and main house, I used my 50mm f1.8 prime to focus on the garden's more intracate details. I totally do too! Especially since I have a Disneyland pass and go at least once a month, camera always in tow. :) I was actually excited last weekend that the line was so long on Jungle Cruise that we snaked along the second floor (who knew it had one??) and I got to shoot the rooftops of that part of the park. Love this shot! I am a beggining photographer and love the idea of a different perspective on a popular landmark. I visit Disneyland at least twice a week and always manage to capture a different view point type of shot.

it's always a fun assignment to see common things differently from the masses (i love to be the camera in the crowd that is pointed in the opposite direction - hah). i think those of us who 'see' are usually on the lookout for the out of the ordinary (even though we still need to have the shot of our little ones with the furry mascots - just for posterity)...

This morning, I sat in a chair by a window. Drinking coffee. Writing. Like any ordinary morning. And then over my roof, maybe 4 stories up, a great blue and purple tiled, pot bellied beast drifted lazily by. And eventhough it moved gracefully slow in its obesity, and I spluttered and jumped furniture to get to my camera, It was maybe 70 yards off before I snapped my first photo of it. There's nothing like that to pop one right outside of herself.

living in nyc, i get the see so many great places over and over. one of my favorite walks is the brooklyn bridge, and i always bring my camera. i don't know how many photos i own taken on, around, below that bridge, but each time i go, i'm sucked in by its beauty... and i'm always trying to capture the beauty in a new way...

Fourth of July weekend my family and I went to Legoland. Plenty of people were trying to get their kids photographed with Bob the Builder. Disneyland! I have tons of photos from there too. Trying to get angles that one doesn't always get. (I get a lot of weird looks when my camera isn't pointed at the same thing everyone else's is.)
