split personality

Sometimes there's just no way to make a decision between two opposites. Black or white? Hot or cold? Sweet or Sour? Silver or gold?

Instead of choosing, why not just split the difference?

Today, show us both sides of the story. Whether it's two things in one frame or a diptych of differences, share something that offers a flip side.

Like the telephone line that is splitting my pic in half diagonally?

was still a beautiful sunrise as seen from my front porch!

I had a friend describe this photo as "hard and soft" - the contrast of the lines of the tiles with the arches of the hallway:

I used oil and vinegar to illustrate two opposites:

Ooh, thanks for this post. I haven't done any diptyches in ages, but I think you've just inspired me to get creative again! In the meantime, here are a couple of older flipsides.

The first is a good reminder of spring, which is very welcome, the week that the clocks changed here in the UK:

And here is one that didn't even require me to leave the house:

This was one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen, with hot reds and super-cold gray-blues all in the same cloud:

And an actual diptych:

This is still my favorite diptych to date, because my dad is so darn expressive: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trudem/4378212428/in/set-72157622994428533/ :)

I couldn't decide which side of this gnarly tree I liked, so I shot both:

This is a partial double exposure where I decided to put the two images together rather than cut out the double-exposed part from each image. Makes for an accidental but very fun diptych :)

I went on a photo walk yesterday, and one of my pics is a diptych by chance. I love October, and am sad that it is over!

Check it out (the one with one leave by itself)

I know that only women post here, and there are mostly women comment on things. Would a man be shunned if he join in on the conversation?

2 shots, 2 phone cameras, 2 photographers, same subject, same time:

the photos aren't spectacular but I thought the 2 different perspectives were interesting

Oh! Forgot to add another one. http://flic.kr/p/8M2Egw is old vs new. The old is the Saylor Kilns in Coplay, PA. They are the ruins from Saylor Cement Company. In the back is Lafarge, which is a working quarry/cement company.
