served

- a pint of Bear Republic Pale Ale served at Beechwood BBQ.

Although I'm the first to admit no place is off-limits as far as my camera is concerned, I don't usually make a habit of turning my meals into photo-shoots. This weekend I made an exception. The occasion? Date night at a local restaurant I had a feeling I would love. I was crossing my fingers that things might look as good through my lens as I had heard they tasted.

Oh, they did.

When was the last time you took the liberties of capturing what was served up in a picture? Something delicious from your own kitchen perhaps? Or have you done what I did and taken a photo field trip at a local restaurant? Share with us something that satiated your picture pallet or quenched your creative thirst or both.

that beer makes me thirsty! I am curious about what other delicious food you had!
Here is a photo of mango: I love them, they make me happy! Especially a quality whose name I cannot remember. They arrive at a small shop near to where I live only for few weeks in June. This photo was taken last year, now I am waiting for this year ones and the anticipation of the moment makes me happy already:

your photo is luscious -- love the focus and dreamy depth of field.

my teenagers usually veto my decision to take my camera into restaurants.... sigh.

but no one can stop me from photographing food at home:

Whoa, who knew beer could look good!! :)

And that is so funny because my blog post for today is of some food that I took at La Maedeleine last week. Makes me hungry still looking at it:

I so love taking pictures of food, usually mainly desserts. Especially since I scarf them down so they don't last long. :)

i have a major weakness for photographing things that i've just baked and things that i'm just about to devour!

inspired by your post today, i've added a few more goodies to my "edibles" set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanessa_r/sets/72157622314063449/

these are particularly yummy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanessa_r/4614666845/in/photostream/ ...includes link to recipe ;)

I am forever taking pictures of what I eat at home. My Flickr is proof of that. But I'm not as comfortable pulling out the camera when dining out.

great shot... my husband would appreciate this photo as a beer connoisseur.

i love to take pictures of beverages on tables at restaurants. i think it's because most restaurants offer perfect lighting conditions and photographing glass always looks nice, too. i was just playing around at breakfast with my sister, trying to practice my macro setting. so i started taking pics of my grapefruit juice. i loved the background color in contrast with the color of the juice.

but here is a more recent photo i took and liked of my table top settings... dessert at a friend's house. it was almost too pretty to eat.

Reminds me to make the coffee...

The last time I took my camera out in a restaurant was quite a while ago. I remember posting the pictures right before christmas. Now where there were poinsettias and twinkle lights, is an outdoor cafe with flower boxes and open air jazz stage. I should go back soon and capture this season as well...(and have some Carbonara). Thanks for the inspiration!

I had an unexpected "authentic Chinese lunch" the other day while at my nursing clinicals for nursing school. An exchange student and her mother cooked for us. Normally I detest Chinese food, but I politely ate this meal and.... LOVED it! It was amazing and nothing like the food they serve in Chinese restaurants around here. I didn't have a fancy-smancy camera, but took a couple of shots with my iPhone. ...haven't posted them yet though.

That is a gorgeous pint!

Looking through my photos, I realize I don't get out enough these days. We're more likely to bring a bit of something lovely home, like this local goat cheese (yum): http://www.flickr.com/photos/superdewa/4466579600

I am always photographing my food and that of others as well. I've been know to lean over to someone in our village pub and ask if they minded my snapping a pic or two of their meal. No one has ever said no.

BTW, that drink looks like one you'd see served at our pub.

Here's a shot of something I made myself as well as taking the photograph before serving.

My husband and I took a day off to tackle a heavy duty home project and after dropping the kids at the daycare, we treated ourselves to breakfast before beginning the work. It looked so pretty in the morning sun, I had to snap a shot before I ruined it with my fork. For the record, it tasted even better than it looked.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/40070449@N08/4288974951/

I write a food blog, so taking shots of food is something that I do frequently.

Yesterday I shot a strawberry for my 365 Project http://www.flickr.com/photos/26029966@N02/4613843590/

A pretty cupcake that a friend brought me http://www.flickr.com/photos/26029966@N02/4602465624/

And a quick dinner shot http://www.flickr.com/photos/26029966@N02/4555890213/

I have a friend who shoots her beers, coffees, etc and posts them at Facebook. I like the light in the photos, in addition to the subject.

You went, Tracey! Glad you loved it. That's funny - we had a date night this past Saturday night and went to Beachwood, too. Had sushi somewhere else and went to Beachwood for d e l i c i o u s bread pudding and heavy porter ale. Yum.

I take photos of my food all the time, because I love (food, that is). ;) It's usually chocolate - so the last time was when I photographed my cupcake for mother's day.

I just took a photo of beer, also... :) It was on a brewery tour held in honor of my friend's 30th birthday. I now believe that every birthday should include a beer flight.

Nice capture up above. My mouth waters just imagining how it tasted. Mmmmm...
Food isn't something I usually think to take pictures of. I have a couple.
Though, they are out of context. Taken for photo challenge themes instead of being presented as the yummy food they are.

I have a hard time shooting when eating out. Something about keeping work and pleasure separate...but who am I kidding? They are often the same :)

Oh yummy! I love taking my camera when we eat out - getting the intimate snaps of the dinner like this thrills me to no end. I also keep my camera handy at home during those (rare) occasions when I cook - I snap while I cook mostly and not so much of the finished meal. So fun.

Yum. I've got pictures all over my blog of the cooking/baking I occasionally do, but not many on Flickr for some reason. But I do have this one from my one and only visit to Chez Panisse - even the bottled water was pretty....

All the tables were setup in long rows & it seemed like everyone got up at once. I wanted to capture that warmness. I always seem to take the picture when the server is trying to approach our table. I guess they only want to talk to you twice: when you put food in your mouth & when you want a picture.

I find taking pictures of food can be challenging...restaurants can be too dark, some foods are tricky to make look good in a photo, I'm uncomfortable taking pics of food in public...but I still enjoy doing it, I enjoy the challenge...This pic is from home...This morning's breakfast of strawberries, blueberries, and creamy greek yogurt...http://www.flickr.com/photos/22733432@N08/4617724300/

After I read this post I decided to take my camera to dinner and a special dinner it was!! My partner and I have been traveling for almost 3 months now. And, while the food has been quite good, it's nothing like what we're used to. Prior to our travels, we lived in Korea for 2.5 years.

It's been 3 months of tasty but ultimately uninspiring food, so when we walked past a Korean restaurant, we couldn't pass up the opportunity. It was a good thing we didn't because it was one of the best meals thus far.

This is a picture of cucumber kimchi! YUMMMMMMMMY.

I have an entire Facebook folder of beer -- all taken on my iPhone. I really love to try new beers and always snap a photo so I can remember which ones I liked, loved, etc.

I also take a lot of food photos.

Here is one I love from Thanksgiving:
