a different point of view

I am drawn to different points of view.  Whether it be lying belly down in the grass,  shooting straight up a flower's stem, or shooting from above a subject like this shot above,  I  think shaking things up and trying new points of view can prove fun and interesting.  Rather than a straight on portrait,  I like how this brings focus to the subtle details;  the eyelashes and the brim of his hat.  What different points of view have you tried and liked?  Share some with us today.

I just love the detail in those eyelashes!!!
Often - I like to lie belly down to the ground..a worm's-eye-view:

The curls peeking out are glorious!

My husband is no longer surprised to find me on the ground, on my belly, or flat on my back looking up. He has a picture of me laying on the beach getting a shot of a shell. It was February, we were in Avalon, NJ, and there was a wind chill.
I've also been know to lean way over railings. http://paparazzi-roxi.blogspot.com/2010/04/view-from-my-old-room.html

I love pictures that are taken from unusual angles too . . . my brother has the ability to see ordinary things in new fun ways and he has encouraged me to start seeing things differently too.

I love that portrait.

I have a fondness for shooting flowers from below.

Beautiful shot! I agree, a different angle adds such a freshness to a photo.

I love this over-the-shoulder view of my friend holding my baby girl:

I can't stop shooting from a Worm's View. There's something about it that I can't stop doing. It makes me feel so sneaky!

Lovely shot, just beautiful. I love the colors, the detail, and the overall mood.

I like angled, from below or from above shots. I think for me it depends on the subject which one I end up choosing, though often it's not deliberate. I just keep moving until I find something I like? It should be more conscious so that I'm more consistent instead of getting a few lucky shots.

Lovely image. The eyelashes and curls peeking out from under the brim of the hat are beautiful!

I love playing around with different vantage points:

His eyelashes from beneath his brim are so wonderful!

I'm not sure why I looked down here, probably the sparkle caught my magpie's eye, but I'm happy with the result.

Oh I've got one for ya! I took this photo yesterday with my micro lens staring straight into the sun, except you can't really tell that's what I was doing. You'll have to see it for that to make sense. I'm planning on posting it tomorrow :)

Love the hat, curls, eyelashes and bokeh!

I've been trying really hard to look at things from different perspectives. I'm finding that, for me, it's really difficult. I took this shot today while photographing my beautiful flowers, this weed caught my attention and became my favorite capture.

this is so great! you are so good at experimenting :)

sometimes i find it fun to just set the camera on the ground and click, it's always a nice surprise to see what i get. :)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mageejenks/4645724716/

I also find myself laying on the ground, looking up a lot. i realized this when i was taking some portraits of a friends little girl and she asked "why are you doing that?" I realized i must look pretty funny and I told her it's just fun to get different angles sometimes. a week or so later they went to Disney World and her mom told me that she was laying on her belly the whole time, taking pictures of all the characters b/c she wanted to "take pictures like Tina". How cute is that?

so here's one of me looking straight up:

I am a HUGE lay down on the ground to shoot fan. HUGE.

It's also rubbed off on my husband:

I love that shot. The depth of field is perfect.

Here are a couple from my Picture Spring class. Both were taken lying on the ground.

That's a very sweet photo. His eyelashes are gorgeous!

I get into "trouble" for taking photos from unusual angles. Someone almost called 9/11 because she saw me prone on the sidewalk. My kids are mortified (they are adolescents) whenever I do anything a little unusual for a shot. They say I look like I'm pee'ing when I squat, LOL! I try not to embarrass them too much, but I do figure that the more unusual the angle, the less likely it's been done before.

My most recent photo from an unusual angle is this one of a blue jay feather from above:

I love pictures that do not follow the strict face on rules of portraits. Though I have never tried something with a hat or other object I try to shoot from above with a child laying on the ground. However the lashes of this little girl reminded me of a birthday picture I did of a little boy on his second birthday.

Love that shot, really thought provoking! This is a recent fave that I love. I know it's not exactly out of the ordinary to get down on a dog's level, but I can't help but love the light and his expression (plus it's my brother's dog, so I'm biased). :)

Such a beautiful photo! And a fun topic. I did a blog post on this recently, from a flower's point of view: http://www.kateyeview.com/2010/04/exploring-with-camera-from-flowers.html

Love this! Yes - the eyelashes! A beautiful and thoughtful image.
I like shooting items on the ground - looking directly above. It's been awhile since I did that. One of my favorite images from years ago, were roses arranged on a beautiful tile floor.

Thanks for the inspiration.

i love different points of view also. my biggest pet peeve is when people say, "i love your camera, it takes such great pictures".
its not the camera- while it helps a smidge- its the angles. the perspective!

i love this photo you shared!

I thought I was in tune to looking at things from a different perspective but after looking at these posts I'm not sure. I like my sunflower because the photo is from the back and it's just as beautiful as the front.

It must have been fate that kept me from catching this post on Tuesday 'cause I took this shot on Thursday and posted it on my 365 project:

Oh, I love trying to challenge myself to shoot from a different angle. I was admiring my 11 month old's little belly the other day, and I decided to lay flat on the ground and actually just put my camera on the floor. I LOVE the result....

These jerseys which are interestingly termed retro basketball jerseys are old school. Here is an example, men football jerseys, Kobe’s jersey at the present time, but the Lakers look 20 years ago. That would be an example of the throwback kind. Sports stars put them on now and again during games also.site:http://www.nfljerseyonline.com

Most of these jerseys state they’re replicas, sports jerseys store, yet in fact aren’t. They are the cheapest ones out there. They’ve screen imprinted lettering, additionally are made of the least expensive fabrics availableNike.
