Hello Gorgeous!

Last year, my friend Kelly Rae asked me if I could take some photographs of her, that would make her feel beautiful in her new pixie haircut. I was honored, of course! As photographers, I think one of our best gifts is to be able to capture the beauty we see and and reveal it to those around us. I cannot think of a better thing to do, but to make someone feel seen, gorgeous and happy in their own skin. And isn't she a beauty through and through? It was easy peasy. That is why I love my job :)

With that said, it’s time for a June Mini Photo Contest. That means it’s time for you to share your best image that fits our theme this week. And today (guess!), it’s Hello Gorgeous!

So show us what you’ve got between now and Sunday night at midnight PST over in our OWP Flickr pool and leave a comment here with a link to your shot. Only one image per person please and only those images shared through links in the comments here will be considered. There will be one “Grand Hello” winner that will receive a 36X24 canvas (Hello!) and 2 runners up that will win a 20X24 canvas compliments of Hello Canvas, of course! Winner will be chosen by best interpretation of the theme. Good luck!

my step-daughter was in town (love her to pieces) memorial weekend and she has been keeping up with my photos on flickr the best she can. She has been begging me to do her senior portraits so we decided to practice. she is very shy around the camera and it was fun and funny. When we went through and edited a few, this one she couldn't stop staring at!

it makes her look soooo grown and sooo georgous! Even her mother called with high praises. Proud moment . . . showed her just how gorgeous she really is!

why, yes. she is very beautiful. i love that hair cut, by the way! i wish i could pull that off.

i recently took several shots of my best friend. she did not ask me to. it was just for fun. but i'm so glad i did. she is one of the most beautiful people i know... inside and out. and the camera absolutely loves her! although technically, my shots were not the best of her, they are among some of my favorite people pictures that i have ever taken. it was hard to pick between one of two, but this was the one i chose.

oops....i goofed and added too many to the pool, but if i had to pick just one, i would say this one.
i can't tell you her name, as i have to respect her privacy, but she was one of the teenagers i worked with at the
boys and girls club and even with years of hardship behind her, she is amazingly gorgeous inside and out.

Feeling frumpy and fat at 35, always comfortable pointing my camera at another and bringing out their qualities I suddenly chose to do a self portrait on a trip to Santa Fe. I was shocked at what I saw. I saw my own beauty and it felt really good.

Hooray for Kelly Rae! You really captured her personality. :)

Here's one of my all time fave portraits, my close friend Melissa whom I've known for about 10 years now. She's not only stunning on the outside, the girl is brilliant and a wonderful woman:

I debated so much over this. I felt you wanted one gorgeous person but I ended up using one photo of my three best friends. It was taken over good food, good wine, and lots of laughter.

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting, and first time joining a community of photographers. I'm so glad that I found ways to connect with other female photogs.

This shot I am entering is one of my favorites. It shows motherhood, love, and compassion. And a Hot Mama!

I chose an image of my girlfriends getting ready for a rare night out without husbands and kids - just the girls. As mothers, we often forget to take time for ourselves and, while the getting gorgeous part in the photo seems pretty obvious to others who may look at it, the most beautiful thing to me about this image is that I have such a wonderful group of girlfriends that became sisters. It's especially important for this girl who who grew up without that sister relationship. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicoleishida/4310262477/in/pool-shuttersisters

I snapped this picture of a little girl at the People's Fair today -- she was holding a HUGE turkey leg. When she saw that I was taking her picture she struck this wonderful pose for me and smiled. Gorgeous!

My sitter, Stevie, at my house before heading to her first prom. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to help her get ready...the makeup, the dress, her photos, etc. Having boys, I won't get that opportunity. As soon as she was dressed and ready, she radiated confidence and beauty.
