get happy!

Summer is the season of play and yet I cannot even remember the last time I took the summer seriously with play in mind until this summer! Play can lighten our burdens, connect us, make us feel young again, and help heal our wounds. Play is an essential part of life and yet we can so easily shirk it off the older we get.

There are a million ways to engage in the power of play! Today pick one and do it up. We want to see you get happy!

There was nothing that made me happier than yesterday and the adventures I had with my camera. You're right... there ARE a million different ways to engage in the power of play. Mine is just a little on the unusual and risky side....

This totally happened on its own and my 3 year old shrieked that Elmo was also eating her spaghetti! So many giggles later, I just had to click away and remember it to smile at and make me happy again and again and again!

Driving home I stopped at Moonstone/Clam Beach as I could see kites over the surf. With camera in hand I found this lone Red Board, patiently awaiting it's turn to play in the surf.

I hear that a Discovery film crew is at the beach today for a Dinosaur production, so after reading today's post I will see what my camera and I can find! Happy Day!!

tracey, before i even saw the author of this post, i knew it would be from you by the photo!

FABULOUS smile-creating shot.

well, i did not get to take pics today, because i went to chicago to see my sister and an old friend, and my batteries died. *sigh* and i'm pretty sure i would have gotten some playful shots, as we can all get really silly around each other... we've been friends since sixth grade.

so, i guess i'll have to share a playful shot/story from the past... and i linked to it in my comment on the s.s. post a couple of days ago, too. but, hey... why not again?

it's the story of one my husband and i like to play... in the summer, and otherwise.

Thank you for the reminder to PLAY!

Although I went looking for those dinosaurs, what I found instead was this wonderous and magical castle that someone built. People smiling, talking, reminding their children 'don't touch'...

It;s been so hot here in middle Georgia that we cooled off with some water and had a lot of fun doing it!

The part about healing especially hit me, and we've been hurting with loss this week. We stepped outside for some play last night, and I'm so happy we did. It brought smiles back to our faces.

as a kid I was always afraid to go upside down. I'm glad my kids aren't:

I probably should have forced myself to do a sp in the same pose ;-)

Google eyes and pumpkins make me smile every time. Love this silliness in the midst of a busy kitchen!
