moo and you

We tell the world a little about ourselves with everything we do. How we act, what we say, how we dress, what we carry. From our bags to our blogs from our coffee mugs to our cameras. Our words, our images, our facebook status, all express who we are.

In the theme of this month's One Word Project, we have partnered with MOO to encourage you to really express yourself this week! Who are YOU? Share it with us through your shots this week for your chance to win some super-cool prizes from MOO. MOO offers a ton of ways to express yourself through business cards, mini cards, post cards, stickers (total cuteness), and holiday cards. We know you know all about them (coolest cards for photographers ever) so why not offer this fun contest in celebration of MOO and YOU?

Here's the scoop:

For a chance to win – all you have to do is post a URL to a photo in the comments which resonates with this month’s theme of ‘YOU’. You know how the OWP works! We want to see shots that have YOU written all over them! We are looking for beautiful, creative, unque or just fun shots of/or about YOU.

Prizes from MOO

Grand prize – 100 business cards (or 200 minis), 25 Christmas (Holiday) cards, 20 postcards & 52 stickers!

2nd place – 100 business cards (or 200 minis) & 52 stickers

3rd place – 100 business cards (or 200 minis)  & 52 stickers

You've got until  Friday, 10/28 at midnight EST to leave your comments and links here for a chance to win.

We can't wait to see YOU in your entry image!

There's a self portrait of me in my October Project 10 that is just so totally ME - it's me, with my girls huddled, one onto my lap, one resting on my shoulder and all reading a book together on our big bed - it's a perfect shot of one of our many perfect moments together huddled or snuggled and reading, together and I love it http://kirstylarmourblog.com/2011/10/project-10-october-abu-dhabi-lifestyle-photographer/

Altho I don't do a lot of self portraits..I feel as if 'ME' is in everyone of my posts. My vision. My voice.:

This photo is me right now, missing my husband while he's deployed as a civilian contractor in the middle east. (the only place I have the photo online is on a scrapbook page. hope that still works!)

I been taking photography classes all year online and in Jan & Feb this year, the first class I took was on shooting self portraits. I'm sharing my all time favourite one, which is so quintessentially me. I discovered I LOVE shooting self portraits. (Which is quite surprising really-I was the kid who hid under a bed or locked themselves in a bathroom when photo time came aroung.) When you shoot self portraits, you can capture yourself as no one else can. There's a layer of raw truth and vulnerability that only shows up when you're the one pointing the camera at yourself.

Anyway, here it is:

My absolute favorite picture of all time. (Including non-self portraits!) This was the first time I ever achieved, exactly, what was in my head. Taken for Tracey's picture holiday class last year for the prompt "There's no looking back": http://www.flickr.com/photos/anngeedee/5307610812/in/set-72157625804127634

like tara, a selfie from the flight home. i normally hide from the camera but was inspired by meredith winn, of course, and the overall magical experience that was camp shutter sisters.

Every 6ish weeks I get my hair cut and colored. I love how she is able to get it so straight. I can't even come close. So for two days every 6ish weeks my hair looks great, the rest of the time it's in a ponytail.

I'm 7 1/2 months into the most surprising love affair of my life... with this little person who calls me mom. He is fully his own person, but I still see so much of myself in him:

I was out shooting in London and came across this sign in a shop-front. It reminded me of something i've heard before; that without love there is no action that isn't in danger of becoming overshadowed by negativity.

This photo reminds me to hold love at my core. I want it to be at the core of all I am & do.

Love Boldly...

I've started experimenting more with self-portrait shots as a way to photograph some of my knitting projects. I took this the day before my birthday back in September. The shot started in my head as just a fun way to showcase the knit gloves but on seeing how it turned out, I loved it for more than that. It has a lot of my personality in it and it combines my three loves: knitting, reading, and photography.

I was inspired to do a self portrait after watching Billy Idol in "Rock the Cradle of Love". This is the same pose that he struck in the music video, cheeky and fun. I decided to use the new photo of me for my campaign to erase the stigma of wearing hearing aids and promote "Hearing Aids Rock!"

As you can tell, I had fun doing this.

I started a social enterprise - Blanket Statements where for each blanket purchased another is donated to a women's shelter. Blankets always brought me comfort during rough times.

This is me lately. Not feeling totally shattered emotionally, just with my life. So many fragments pulling at me and dividing me.

This is a fun shot of my and my daughter. I know the shot is supposed to be ME but my little girl has so much of me in her. So when I took this, it wasn't just me feeling pretty enough for a photo. It was enjoying my little girl who just finished wearing my shoes, my perfume, and my smile. After all, she is a little part of me.

This photo pretty much sums it up for me, doing what I like to do...and compensating for being terribly self conscious about having my own picture taken. I can live with this one:

I have a thing for reflections and the shot-in-a-mirror. potentially cliche, but I think it still says a lot about how we frame (and re-frame) ourselves, our days.

do the photos of us have to be taken by us? or can they be taken by another? if the former, than disregard my comment/link. but if they can be photos that were taken of us by someone else, than here is my link...

This image is very much "me". It's the type of work I strive to do in all of my images... easy, fun and full of expression. This was of my closet girlfriends after a great girls weekend in Pismo Beach, CA. It's exactly what I envisioned for the image... http://www.flickr.com/photos/juicypics/6265241973/in/photostream

And this is simply a picture of "me"
