Getting Creative

Fall seems to be turning to winter sooner than it usually does, from the early snow storms in the east to the earlier than normal rain here in Southern California. We had rain off and on Friday through Sunday and I really needed to get outside, even if just for a little bit.  There was a brief break in the clouds and I remembered my rubber duckies that I had been holding onto since last spring for days just like these.  I grabbed my 11 yr. old son, he grabbed the ducks and off we went to find the perfect puddle to set them free in.  Not only did I get some camera time in, my son and I had some good old fashioned outdoor fun, and for that I am grateful

How about you? What do you when the weather doesn't want to cooperate? Today, show us how you work with the weather in your neck of the woods.

I usually stay indoors when the weather is bad but when we had a freak snow storm the other weekend I just had to head out with my camera.

I love that photo of the rubber duckies. What a fun way to celebrate the rain. I got out recently to capture a foggy, frosty morning.

I try and work with what nature gives me.

Sometimes, I'm inspired to shoot in the nastiest weather possible. For this shot, I had to wait several weeks for it to rain hard enough to get the shot I wanted.

In this shot, I loved the beautiful weather and captured the blue sky in the refection of the building:

Love the rubber ducks! What a great idea.

The day after our recent snowstorm was so incredibly beautiful it took my breath away.

Great capture, I love rubber duckies :) We were one of the lucky ones to get a foot of snow last week (and hear we are in for another round this Friday). My Grams is in San Diego and old my about all the rain and one of her tree's up rooted from it. Crazy weather all the way around.

Rain, rain, rain... we have lots of that in the NW. But it gives wonderfully overcast skies and interesting reflections. I wrote a whole post about shooting in the rain a while ago: http://kateyestudio.com/2010/10/exploring-with-camera-rain.html

Where I live, it's starting to get pretty cold. Cold keeps some folks indoors, but I try to get out in all weather - even in the depths of winter. For now, our cold brings very frosty mornings. Here's what I captured ~

Winter arrived suddenly last week in Colorado. Luckily for me, winter makes me want to grab my camera too!

went to a planned photo shoot this weekend even though rain was in the forecast; poor lighting made it challenging for taking pictures but I learned a lot by trying different angles and experimenting with post-processing to get the most out of each shot. oh, and the rain held off - so good day overall.
