beach party

Ben and I stumbled on this party at our local beach today.....

As you can see, true beach weather has not yet arrived. Our feathered friends have the place all to themselves, and they seem to be loving every minute of it. It's hard to see the variety of 'folks' at the gathering...but there was a duck, a few geese, a gull and another fella I can't quite identify.

Ben and I walk the trail from town, that leads to this very spot, each day.... it's certainly not a sandy ocean beach, but we sure do LOVE it.

Today share a little glimpse into your world....  the beach, the trail, the back yard.... wherever you may find a little inspiration and sunshine. We'd love to see it.

I went for a bike ride with a friend today- our usual route- and after a wet week came across a fairy ring of mushrooms!

This is the canal path near our home. When the weather gets better I love to cycle along there and there are places to stop and picnic too.

I love Maryland's Eastern Shore. You'll find me here every weekend during the summer:

A big part of my life - family and photography! Taken at a wildlife preserve near our home. http://www.flickr.com/photos/trebecca84/5646378241/in/photostream

we walk to school and most days, my camera comes along with me.
I like catching my kids in their routine, noticing the early signs of season change
and every now and again, even along our sidewalk & field path I can catch a little bit of magic

Since I live in the woods and much of our year is snowy, I feel this captures the feel of my world:

Lucky for us, today we have sunshine instead of snow falling, like yesterday!

We live very close to the ocean, and get to take lots of sunset walks. Getting to call this home (temporarily) is such a blessing, and I am so thankful we can capture these moments with a camera.

Our "borrowed" desert world --- here for a month in Arizona which is rapidly concluding--- then we return to a vastly different one in Western MA. Meanwhile, here's the spectacular conclusion to a day in the desert:

I pulled up in front of my house after work yesterday and discovered this art project at the elementary school down the block! Kids with paintbrushes, colors, and cameras -- now that's inspiring!

We actually went to the beach a few weeks ago to fly kites. It was definitely not beach weather, but I managed to capture this candid shot of my son...

I went to my favorite quiet place today with my youngest son. We walked these grounds for about an hour and he crashed on the short ride home. This place will be in full bloom next week. I was a little too early.

With spring here, I have been so inspired by our big backyard.
I recently posted about two of our favourite places to take it all in.

The Estuary

I am waiting for mid-May, for that is when the lupin and columbine flowers on the high prairies and oaklands of Redwood National Park burst forth in glorious bloom. Their harbingers along the coastal beaches have erupted this past week, and here is a field adjacent to Freshwater Beach - and yes, after photographing them, I laid back to watch the sky and clouds ;)
