the fever

"Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself." ~ zen proverb

I fully admit I have spring fever.  I have no shame in that. I lie belly down in the grass as the sunlight dances on each beautiful blade.  I feel my shoulders loosen, my face relax into a smile, I run my fingers across the tops to feel the soft new growth. It only took a few days of that much needed sun to bring it back to life and me along with it.  I feel the long winter fall away as I lie here in the grass. I want to linger in it. Inhale deeper. Stretch and grow.

Wash on the line. A new pair of sandals. Freshly painted toes. A bare shoulder. Blossoms. That first blush of sunkissed skin.

Do you have the fever? What speaks spring to you?

All the rain we've been having has produced a burst of green. So happy that Spring is here even if it is among the thunderstorms.

I, too, was down in the grass this week. It was covered in a heavy dew and I got wet but it was worth it.

Spring is really truly in the air around my way - finally! My baby girl taking her first crawl through the bright, green grass and discovering dandelions this past weekend - that says spring to me right now!

Oh yes, I have spring fever all right. The flowering trees are what get me every spring. Bare branches exploding with color, I just can't get enough of them.

Moving onto Day 5 of sun ~ glorious spring sun! Happy working on the property, thinning trees to open the grass and flowers to the sunshine. While I haven't laid in the grass, I laid in a field of lupin and watched the light clouds move through the sky.

I've been feeling kind of guilty for all the flower pictures I've been taking lately... like it's too easy or something. But I can't help it! They just keep being so irresistible.

now that spring is gone and summer's in with full force in California, I have to look back :-)
it's various little creatures - hummingbirds, bees and lizards that evoke the sense of awakening in me...when my whole backyard is buzzing and chirping

I felt the changing of seasons so viscerally when I was in school (I guess all the anticipation for each break and especially summer). And then all of a sudden I grew up and April would pass by in such a blur. Now, with a child I am back to paying attention to each calendar day and the seasons take on a new meaning. When Ritas water ice opens up I know spring is close. Cherry Blossoms on every corner and the smell of new buds definitely rings loud and clear that spring is here. And then comes the sweating because I just want to wear a light coat and not go straight to short sleeves and shorts. Yep, extra deodorant lets me know that spring is most definitely here (haha).

Spring is excitement, fresh, and so welcomed.
