love is in the details

When was the last time you got really close to something and found something completely unexpected?

Have you ever uploaded an image and something hits you that you had not noticed before?

Some delicious detail that made you smile.

Have you ever noticed that the inside of a sunflower is filled with amazing rows of the tiniest most perfect hearts?  Really really.

I remember taking these shots.  I felt a little like a bumble bee with my nose stuck right in there.  I wanted to capture those tiny hearts to remind me that there is so much to be found in the details... even love.

Let's all celebrate this month's One Word today and share some amazing detail you have found.

I took this photo, to find out on the screen there was a little insect inside the main flower...

What a great post! There is so much exciting in the details. I captured droplets yesterday, and I found my garden reflected in one of them: http://maketakephoto.com/blog/2011/6/15/pergola-in-a-droplet.html

I never knew a sunflower was full of tiny hearts - just beautiful.

I was taking a close-up of this shell in the sand for the beauty of its mottled colors. When I saw it on my computer screen, I was surprised to see the tiniest, perfectly formed shell resting at the center of its base - barely bigger than a grain of sand.

Love the sunflower shot. Beautiful.

Here's a shot of an old graveyard taken last fall. I loved the light behind the tree and that was what I concentrated on capturing. It wasn't until I opened the image on my computer that I saw the fantastic light flare centered in the photo towards the bottom. I think it's what makes the photo. Please view large to really see it.

such wonderful summery colours, Kristin! and the dyptich is such a beautiful way to show both the details and a larger part of the flower.
here's one of little camomile flowers:

What a great find, those sunflower hearts! I have a volunteer sunflower that should be in bloom soon and I shall study it more closely.

What could be sweeter than the first taste of a locally grown strawberry?

I noticed on Sunday, that as my coneflowers started to bloom they have overlapping circles of color that join in the middle to become a bright green. I love the details of everyday and the sunflower shots are incredible with their little hearts. http://www.flickr.com/photos/anngeedee/5830725835/in/photostream

Love the purple insight of the sunflower ...

I like to share the first pic I shot for my FLICKR gallery a couple of years ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10455294@N05/893656043/in/set-72157600996616820

I'm sure the little spider was proud to be on top of it ... :)

I love that! How cool are those flowers. Bonus hearts!

What you mention, not seeing something until you download photos, happens to me all of the time. And sometimes, people point out even more details when I post them on my blog. Like this photo of the door details. I didn't notice the little bits of red peeking through the blue paint until someone left a comment. Now I can't miss it! http://www.kateyeview.com/2011/06/my-latest-obsession-and-last-giveaway.html

I love getting up close and personal, but I don't have a macro lens yet (can't wait to get one). So I end up having to really get up close and personal :)

Some details I love:

I, too, love to photograph my sunflowers. So much beauty and simplicity in the details.

Last week I took this photo. Until I saw it on my computer screen, I had no idea I was able to capture the setting sun's rays.

Took this photo of a wild iris because of the colors....but when I downloaded it, I found the stem had grown in a coiled knot.

Here is a close-up of a leaf where the color transitions look like water color brushstrokes - nature as artist. Something that I never would have noticed in my "pre-camera" days.

Lately, I have also been fascinated with shadows:

No macro lens yet but I do love to capture the details when I can. Markets are one of my favorite places to shoot. This was taken in Jerusalem at the Friday market.

I love finding surprises! : )
I had a similar experience when photographing some brilliant orange tulips at a local conservatory. I decided to shoot just their reflection because the colors were beautiful. When I viewed it later, I realized I also have a Koi fish in my image. http://www.flickr.com/photos/39439264@N04/5837744446/in/photostream
