up close

Meet Ben.

Some of you may 'know' my little boy already. We spend day and night together. My husband says we are joined at the hip.

He's the cutest little guy.... so gentle and loving... sweet and full of character. There's just so much to love about Ben.

Today I pulled out my macro lens... it's been awhile! I've missed it! As I was taking close-ups of all the pretty flowers in our yard, Ben was right there with me .... I just had to take his pic. His beautiful golden lashes make me swoon. I mean...seriously... are they not just the cutest?

Today,  get in a little 'closer' to something (or someone) you love and share with us. I'd love to see.

p.s. I'm running a little 'up-close give away' at the Café.  Stop by and share your up-close photos for a chance to win a few prizes......

I've been taking close ups with my zoom lens lately. I just learned the technique this week. I can't wait to get my macro lens now. I love the photo of Ben. I hope I can do a couple of the puppies in my family justice with great pics too.

I love your photo, Kim! I have a golden retriever and he also has the most gorgeous golden lashes - I know exactly what you mean! You've inspired me to get closer this weekend. I haven't been doing that recently. the last time was during a newborn shoot:

Love those long lashes (I think that's what they are!). He looks so content.

I shot a sunflower on the summer solstice, as the sun has decided to hide from us!

Your Ben is a doll! I cannot get my Yuki to sit still long enough for a macro, so I had to use the zoom on my camera for this. I saw someone catch their puppy in a yawn & have been wanting to get her doing it too. Finally!

I've been working on looking closer. Seeing pictures within the pictures. I think it's about taking the time to see the essence of something, the heart of it. Like Ben's sweet face...Here's my attempt, I challenged myself to a whole day of getting more intimate.

I love peonies, but don't get to see them often. I was fortunate to get to pay a visit to family in the midwest right when they were blooming and even more fortunate that I now have a macro lens to shoot them with :)

Ben's a sweetie and I had just taken a close up of my beagle, but then I remembered the peeling door on my garden shed. It's been on my to-do list forever but I never get around to scraping and painting it. Now I know why ... it's beautiful!! http://flic.kr/p/9Ws8ss Even SOC isn't bad http://flic.kr/p/9WrVGJ

Gah, this was hard to choose. So I just had to leap in a grab one.

The ever-elusive, wild Texas Bluebell – not Bluebonnet... but Bluebell. There is a difference. The biggest difference is that the Bluebell doesn't usually come back in the same spots that its has been before. It's really MIGRANT! So catch it when you can. The gorgeous periwinkle petals are vibrant when hundreds and thousands of the plants are in a field. Quite unusual. Also unusual is the macro lens I used here. It is Photojojo's macro lens for the iPhone 4. How much fun is that?
