we love what we love ......

I'm sitting on my friend's sofa in California right now! I'm here on a little inspiration vacation. The thing is, hopping on a plane to Caliornia isn't a typical 'thing' for me to do. I'm such a home body... very content just to 'be' in my quiet world. I was telling my husband before I left how excited I was to see new things, take different photos, get inspired. I went on to say 'I'm always photographing Ben, my walks, pretty cups, old bottles and books...This will be good for me. Right?' I was feeling anxious about leaving home. I think I was trying to reassure myself, that this was a good thing.

I'm here, and YES I have seen all kinds of beauty and inspiration. I'm so grateful. California is just so beautiful. I'm so glad I took the leap to come.

The other night Myriam made a cup of tea and there it was in front of me, just waiting for me to take a picture. I've taken many photos this week, but this cup is one of my favs. Myriam's home has so many splashes of the things I love; beautiful cups, old bottles.... art, and texture. There's such comfort in the familiar. I love it all! I've been taking many photos of the things I love.

We are who we are. We can change things up, choose different locations.... and that's so good. But it's okay to be true to who we are, recognize what brings us joy...and love what we love....

Today I ask you, what brings you comfort, lights you up and begs you to photograph it? Share with us today.

December is almost here! Can you believe it? We have a new hashtag for the One Word photos, #ssdecember. Feel free to continue using #shuttersisters as well. Thanks so much for sharing your photos with us!

Somehow - no matter what or where - it's nature that most inspires me:

I'm still discovering my "niche" where taking pictures is concerned, for now, I just take pictures of scenes or things that stir something in me. I do so love reflection shots. I took this yesterday while Mike and I enjoyed a stroll on the waterfront here in Beaufort, NC. I'm taking my new Canon with me when I venture out...practice practice practice!

I love this post..I am such a homebody too. :) Glad you are having such a great trip, a change of scene can be so inspiring and refreshing.
Here are the things bringing me comfort at the moment - I even chose a 'homebody' quote to go with the second one!

I just returned from visiting my 92 year-old father in Illinois. The two of us always drive the 'river road' - the road that runs parallel to the Mississippi River. It was foggy on this latest drive.....

I have to agree with you -- HOME is such a comfort to me --just the daily stuff, that I can count on. I love catching photos of simple beauty here at home. Nature is also a huge inspiration, and I tell people that I love to photograph flowers because they are patient subjects that sit still for me.

Yes, let's love what we love!

I'm shooting all kinds of things, but two things I'm totally drawn to are details in nature and street photography.
Here an example for each of them.

I had to laugh when I saw the cup: I knew it was you! And then I read the post and laughed, in a nice way, some more, because you're right. We love what we love ... wherever we are.

My favorite challenge when I open SS each day is to look at the photo and identify "who" it is before I read the post. Yeah ... I have such a thrilling life, don't I?

I've been sick for the past two days and right now, to me, a routine brings me the utmost joy :)

I love this post . . . I feel sometimes like I only shoot the same things over and over again, but you are right . . . we love what we love and that is fine. Right now, I am loving leaves--all by themselves --on a simple background.
