the weather

I wouldn’t be totally British if I didn’t talk about the weather regularly, it’s part of our lives along with drinking tea!

I’ve discovered that weather really can control my mood and my creativity. We’ve had the wettest April EVER here the UK... day after day of rain and grey, it’s sure makes for lack of inspiration to pick up my camera. Then one day earlier this week, the sun & warmth popped by, lifting everyone’s spirits... I was out shooting the flowers, walking bare feet on the grass and watching our cats be free as the sun set.

This day was a much needed gift.

The next day rain came back, of course. Oh well.

How does the weather affect your day and more importantly your photography. Share your discoveries and images.

What a wonderful image of those silhouetted cats!

I love the rain and the soft muted colors:

I'm sooooo with you on this Xanthe! I do find I am so much more easily happy and smiling when there is more light and sunshine! and the more difficult mood of overcast moments at times translates into the images that I capture.
here are two images of poppies that I took recently, the first under a cloudy sky

the second in a moment when the sun had come out of the clouds

to me, they seem to represent the different moods associated with the weather.
hope you have sunnier warmer days soon, Xanthe!!!

I'm in Britain too - I am feeling your pain!!
I created a 'mood board' of some inspiring yet rainy photos - they look amazing, however the reality of going out into the pouring rain to take photos is somewhat different!

I live in Arkansas and the summers and so hot. But the sunrises and sunsets can be amazing. And the afternoon sun's rays lends an interesting light to my photos ;)

I actually like rainy/cloudy days for taking photos. The light is more even and makes the colors soft.

I saw this photo on IG. I'm in LOVE with it! So beautiful!

Ha! This made me chuckle. London may be an ocean from Vancouver, but we sure share the bond of complaining about the rain! I just finished this post on the seemingly never-ending April showers...

Living in the desert, I can't imagine enduring that much rain! If we have rain or clouds for even one day, I'm ready for the sun to come back! It affects my mood so much! Good thing I live where we have 360 days of sun a year!

This is one of my favorite photos which is made more impressive due to the dramatic sky.

I think everyone loves to talk about the weather! I certainly hope you see more sunshine as May move along - rainy days certainly put a damper on moods.

Driving home on Tuesday, I noticed several cars pulled over to the side of the road - they were all looking east - towards this huge massive cloud and the funnel clouds underneath! I didn't capture the funnel clouds, but this was the biggest cloud I have ever seen in my life:

I find weather very inspirational. These are shots from when there were two completely different types of weather. (and I was in two completely different moods!)

We're having very warm weather for our autumn. I went for a walk the other day and it was perfect. And I love the kittycat photo!
