life moves pretty fast

Ferris Bueller said: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Perhaps this is why I write, why my camera is my constant companion. Life is full of little wonders and there is nothing so mundane that it doesn’t hold a glimmer of awesome. I want to be in awe of the small moments, amazed by the light, the spoon on the counter, the crumpled sheets, the sun coming in through the blinds, the hot cup of tea -- the little things that make up a day. When I am out with my camera I am, in fact, practicing the art of seeing things as if for the first time -- with wonder. This is the gift of photography.

Do you stop and look around once in a while? Go ahead. Stop. Take a moment. We'll do it together. Breathe deep. Before you know it, this little moment will be gone. It really does go by that fast.

I love this delicate photo, so atmospheric. And it is true, a camera makes you stop and look around, it puts all those 'moments' into perspective - something I find so important, something I cherish. Something like Mary Oliver's 'The Summer Day' poem.

great post jeanine, it's so wonderful to take the time to look around and discover that glimmer of awesome...
a while ago i went out with the dogs, crossed the bridge, 'saw' this image, captured it, went on with my round, came back to the bridge and it had gone...as if it had never been there..... so glad i took that shot!

It does move too fast.. That too is why I have my iPhone/camera with me at all times and the people I am around are usually used to me being a photo nerd! I also like to every once in a while capture some words about the moment, what I am hearing, seeing, feeling, doing etc.
Lovely image!

My last blog post was just a pic of something pretty in my house that I noticed, that usually I just don't pay attention too. It's good to slow down and pay attention sometimes. http://joyfulwise.com/2012/05/07/antique-cupids/

So true, so true. Take a moment indeed! I tend to look up when I take that moment.
