mustard yellow

In seeking out and shooting color images, I have found that some colors only really beg my attention when they are next to another color. Such is what happens with mustard yellow. It's not often I am drawn to the color on it's own but paired with another hue and mustard yellow might appear like the most beautiful color on the spectrum.

Today, watch for mustard yellow and see how it plays with other colors only to subtly steal the show.

We're back into our quest for color this week as we continue a full month of color. Tag your mustard yellow images with our tag #sscolorweek. And don't forget to find us on Instragram.

Here's a little mustard yellow of mine. A little darker...a little richer..a little fuller than just 'plain' yellow:

wow tracey, such a wonderful combination with the pink! hadn't even thought of nature when hunting for that elusive mustard yellow lol! this season must be full of it, with all the flowers starting to bloom....
my contemplative contribution of mustard yellow is architectural, and the color caught my eyes because of the contrast of the lines and indeed the combination of the hues, in my case the pale and dirty cream and grey really make the yellow pop out

I associate mustard yellow with autumn. So easy to find it then!

And I already shared my photos of all the wild mustard around here, but it seems too perfect today not to share the link again, although mustard flowers aren't really mustard yellow... http://journeyleaf.typepad.com/journeyleaf/2012/06/wild-poppies-and-mustard.html

I found mustard yellow on the fire hydrants all over my city, and at the citrus stand where I buy oranges.

I found the rocks at Asilomar to be quite mustard colored under certain light. Check out the first capture in my post today.

I tend to pair mustard yellow with a complementary colour like brown, which I think the colour suits brown-haired me:

Mustard is not my kind of color but sometimes I like something with mustardy shades.
My offering.
