black

I love how a black and white photo can convey so much when what you may be seeing in the photo isn't actually as it appears.  A simple, everyday color photo can tell a whole different story in black and white, like this photo.

My husband and I had just finished our lunch and as we were heading back to our car, I quickly turned and shot this photo with my iPhone.  Even though the day had been warm and mostly sunny, making this a black and white photo gives it a whole different feel, giving the impression that it might be a cold day with a storm rolling in off of the ocean.  I definitely like this version much better.

Today, share your B&W photos with us.  And don't forget to share your images in our Shutter Sisters OWP pool on Flickr.  Tag all your color shots this month #sscolormonth to be entered in the drawing at the end of June.

I love black and white, there's definitely a different feel to it.

I recently used black and white images of my to convey some life lessons.

Love black & white photos! I took this one almost 3 years ago using TMax 400 black and white film (when I could still find it in the store) and added some contrast in Lightroom. Driftwood is much better in black & white:

I love black and white photos. I feel so much more emotion and drama comes from them.
Here's my kitty, Rascal.

I love looking at and enjoying black and white photos,
but my brain loves color and doesn't seem to "think" black and white.
However, a few of my photos lend themselves to monotone . . .
and except for purple polish, this was already almost black and white . . .

I didn't see the color version of your photo,
but I can imagine how different it would look.
The black and white version is wonderful; I want to hear stories from everyone there.

I try to shoot at least one black & white image every week. Sometimes I even develop my black & white film in my kitchen! Here's one of my favorite shots from my archives: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeamac/5629803149/

This is a silhouette of one of my favorite trees, with one of Kim Klassen's textures applied. I love a well-done black and white, but I haven't learned the technique yet. I'm enjoying looking at everyone's work!

Although I took this photo in color, I much prefer it in black and white.

I was really excited for the colour black day because it meant I could post a picture of my back lab, Surf. I'm a bit disappointed the theme is black and white, not just black, but this photo is almost black and white! In b&w you lose her wonderful kind brown eyes and the rust tone of her coat from spending so much time in the sun... To get definition into the black lab coat, so she just didn't turn up as one giant black blob in the picture, had to blow out the white tile wall and most of the tub she's standing in.

Poor girl loves the water but isn't a fan of bath time...

I consider black and white photos very classic. I can feel more emotions them. I believe that black and white photos convey more dramatic message than colored and vibrant pictures.
