'tis the season

I love this time of year, I really do.  Though we really don't have a 'fall' season here in southern California, certain things, I think, universally signify the burgeoning change of season: school starts, days shorten, temps drop (though not here yet!) and of course, football.  High school, college or professional, nothing says 'fall' like football!   It's the one thing that helps ease me out of summer.  I love wearing my team's colors, tailgating before the big game and yelling "Defense!!" until I lose my voice.  I wouldn't have it any other way. And with the lost voice, my husband wouldn't have it any other way, either!

How about you? What is fall like for you? Please, do share.

For me, one of the nicest things about fall in southern California has always been the refreshingly empty beaches: http://instamaticgratification.wordpress.com/2012/09/04/247366/

Great pic, love that red! For me, fall represent big change in the landscape, the trees turn yellow, orange and red, it's so beautiful. The air is cool and a good sweater is needed to keep us warm. I love taking walks with my camera to capture the beauty that surrounds me.

At this time of year, I'm not quite ready to let go so I always need to take a short look back.

I grew up in Las Vegas, where there is no real "fall". Something I love best about where I live now is the predictability and beauty of the seasons colliding. We're still in sundresses, but we're picking pumpkins from our garden. The changes are subtle, but so comforting.

The gathering of leaves....we have many old trees in our home and lots of time is eventually spent gathering and jumping on them....
