taste

Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.” -Henry David Thoreau

This is the time of year when the weather begins to turn and with that, the food and drink we serve up follows suit. Is it me, or does this time of year beg for soups, stews, pastas, and bread? Everything warm, rustic, and deeply satisfying. Autumn is officially upon us. Today, tell the story of what you taste this time of year and share it with us. In other words, make our mouth’s water!

Comfort, warmth, simplicity. After a few months, summer seems so busy, too much light, too much heat. I begin wanting simple things, calming things, simple soups, deep bowls, mugs of hot tea, apple slices.
And scrambled eggs with toast.
They have become an everyday breakfast. So simple, two eggs, cream, salt, pepper and a sprinkle of Thyme, gently folded until just done and served with buttered slices of rustic bread...

I also crave soups and the comfort foods of fall but with it comes a craving for a good pumpkin beer.

Well, autumn means my birthday and I've been baking cupcakes. I love coming in from the cold outside to a house smelling of baking.
