moo and you

We tell the world a little about ourselves with everything we do. How we act, what we say, how we dress, what we carry. From our bags to our blogs from our coffee mugs to our cameras. Our words, our images, our facebook status, all express who we are.

In the theme of this month's One Word Project, we have partnered with MOO to encourage you to really express yourself this week! Who are YOU? Share it with us through your shots this week for your chance to win some super-cool prizes from MOO. MOO offers a ton of ways to express yourself through business cards, mini cards, post cards, stickers (total cuteness), and holiday cards. We know you know all about them (coolest cards for photographers ever) so why not offer this fun contest in celebration of MOO and YOU?

Here's the scoop:

For a chance to win – all you have to do is post a URL to a photo in the comments which resonates with this month’s theme of ‘YOU’. You know how the OWP works! We want to see shots that have YOU written all over them! We are looking for beautiful, creative, unque or just fun shots of/or about YOU.

Prizes from MOO

Grand prize – 100 business cards (or 200 minis), 25 Christmas (Holiday) cards, 20 postcards & 52 stickers!

2nd place – 100 business cards (or 200 minis) & 52 stickers

3rd place – 100 business cards (or 200 minis)  & 52 stickers

You've got until  Friday, 10/28 at midnight EST to leave your comments and links here for a chance to win.

creative bootcamp

So we’ve been talking igniting our inspiration this month with the one word project. How about a little Creative Boot Camp to get the sparks flying?.

Are you ready to answer the deeper callings of your creative soul?... Are you tired of following the pack and ready to begin producing your most authentic work... Do you yearn to produce work with full of meaning and brimming with authenticity?...then Maegan Beishline of Madeline Bea Photography has designed a course for you.

Maegan Beishline says “Creative Boot Camp: Spring Training is all about artistic exploration…and through that exploration, getting to know yourself as an artist. It is all about doing the work and flexing the creative muscles in an effort to get to the place where you are producing very authentic work…the work of your soul. Each day of the two week course, there will be a different essay on creativity, an activity to go along with that essay, and some ideas for journaling or further thinking. Also, throughout the course, there will be thoughts and inspiration shared by other artists to really dive into the different mediums."

You can find all the details of the course at the Creative Boot Camp site and learn how half of the course fee goes to showHOPE: a movement to care for orphans.

I’m thrilled to give away one complimentary place on this amazing journey, so please leave a comment between now and Monday 4/25 midnight (EST), perhaps tell me what inspires you or what a course like this could do for you.

Updated - A winner was chosen randomly - Anita of goingalittlecoastal.blogspot.com - Maegan will be in touch with details.... hope you enjoy the journey.

Canon Mark II give-away at Epiphanie

Today is Epiphanie's birthday. At least, that's what I'm calling it. It's the day I found the nerve to share a project that I'd been working on for two years, with the world. And by world, I mean you guys. And by you guys, I mean this amazingly warm, generous, unique community of photographer-women-friends who gather via the internet.

Whether you purchased a bag, took time out of your busy day to say nice things about us on your blog, or sent a sweet email that made our day (note: that applies to all of them), we have been overwhelmed by your kindness and support. As a thank you, we're giving away treats today! Come visit our blog for details on how you could receive 15% off your purchase and / or win a brand new Canon 5D Mark II!!

Thanks again everyone, and good luck!

And you are welcome to share a celebratory capture with us here. We love birthdays. Heck we love celebrations of any kind. Party on!

centered

I almost never place a subject in the center of the frame. When I asked her to lay the baby in the middle of the blanket, it was because I was intending for her and her husband to crawl down beside him. Then I looked down to see the baby, so content and small against the large expanse of white. It seemed almost awkward for him not to be kicking or fussing, which matched the also awkward cropping. After looking again, I realized it wasn't awkward at all. For this new family, he was indeed the center: of their attention, their thoughts, their love...right where he belonged.

Do you have any images which might be technically off, but still somehow work for you? If so, we'd love to see.

Also, in celebration of all the little centers of our attention in our lives, I want to let you know about my friend Katy who is doing a huge give-away on her blog right now. Some of the main ways you can enter involve taking photos of your little ones. So it might be right up your alley, plus a chance to win a $1000 gift certificate to Southwest, or a $2000 shopping spree.

Good luck and have fun! :)
