Love Thursday: February 28th, 2008

There's something I love about an image of a man caring for a young child.  And it's not just pictures of my husband with our daughter, either.  I think it has something to do with the fact that often men are expected to be strong, stoic,  and capable of subduing any signs of vulnerability -- so when I see a man being particularly tender or attentive with a child, I feel like I've been let in on a little secret.

The photograph above was taken this past weekend:  a friend asked me to take pictures of her young daughters.  We met at a park, and I was so happy that her husband, B, decided to join us.  With the aid of my long 70-200mm lens, I was able to capture this special moment between daddy and daughter.  Thanks, B, for letting me in on the secret.

Happy Love Thursday, everyone.  Please leave your links of images of love in the comments section, below -- and for inspiration, please check out the lovely image by Addicted to Coke left in the Shutter Sisters Flickr Pool.

And may you witness a tiny, secret moment of love today.

This was "a little secret moment of love" I witness 3 years ago from my daughter Jazz to her sister Iris. I'm glad I found the camera that morning and took a photo, so I wouldn't forget it. Happy Love Thursday! katy

Wow, thank you Karen for the link to my (addictedtocoke)s photo :).
What a gorgeous image of father and daughter you captured. I too think it's a special thing. Seeing my Dad with my daughter, through her eyes he is a hero, it really brought out a new appreciation in me for him.

I saw these women in the Cimeterie de Montmartre in Paris. It was clear they weren't tourists but were there to visit the grave of someone they both loved. The way they interacted spoke of many shared experiences and secrets...I followed them out of the cemetary and got this shot. I hope my friendships endure the way their's has.

I'm so happy that Love Thursday has returned! Sorry I'm late in joining the party, but I've found you again and I'll be back again and again ...

It's wonderful to be saying this once more... Happy Love Thursday!

I love moments like that within my family, but I also love being witness to them!

This week, my photo was inspired by a snack. I am the lead teacher for the one year old group at our home school co-op, and when I administer snack to the kids, they love it! They all come running to the table with big, wide smiles. It's so adorable. My kids love to have snack, too. It has the power to change the mood of the day even!

Here's to snacks, and the enjoyment of them...

Happy Love Thursday! I also love seeing Dads being particularly (sometimes uncharacteristically) gentle with their kids. I can't wait to see my husband as a Dad, starting this spring! He is going to be great at it! :-)

I love keeping my eyes open during the week to try to find something perfect for Love Thursday. It makes me feel like I have a higher calling or something.

I came into my living room a couple of days ago and found this waiting for me on my footstool. I know it was accidental, because my four yr old doesn't quite have the skills to have done it on purpose. He had just been playing with the bead necklace they had made at school the day before. It's just so perfect it really made me smile.

Happy Love Thursday everybody!!

Oh love. I was recently opining about how love isn't always what you think it is. And how that can sometimes trip you up.

Nothing more than a snapshot, but I still get a warm-fuzzy when I look at him holding her in that little blanket sleeper. I miss those!
