Hand it Over

042608_600.jpg

Sometimes as I'm clicking away, making sure to record each event or small detail in our lives, I have to remind myself to hand over that precious camera and ask someone else to take my picture. On this day, it was my husband John. We were at an Earth Day festival in the park and I was busy taking pictures of our surroundings and of him. But I made sure to plop the camera in his hands and say "Will you take a picture of me so people know I exist?" Sometimes I worry that my future children will look at our old photo albums and ask me if I was even there. So I try to make an effort to be in a few shots at every occasion, no matter how small. So consider this your reminder! Don't be afraid to hand over the camera and ask someone to capture your beautiful face.

Has anyone taken your picture with your camera lately? If so, leave a link in the comments. And self portraits don't count this time!

When we were in Mexico, my husband took the camera and snapped so many wonderful photos of me. It was a true gift.

i have been on entire vacations without a single shot to record my presence. sigh. this spring break, i lined up a family photoshot with a photographer so that i could have family photos with me in them, even ones with just my husband and me -- what a treat!

what a beautiful picture of you! And no, I have no pictures of me lately at all. Good reminder that I need to hand it over. It's just so hard sometimes...

ha! i can't post a single picture either that is not a self-portrait. my husband just repels the camera for some reason. i also worried that my son would never see me in photos so i use the self timer alot to take our pictures together.

this is a beautiful picture of you! what a gorgeous smile you have! :)

Here's a picture of me and my baby girl giving me sweet kisses - my husband took it a few weeks ago! I love this picture and wish I had more just like it! Thanks for the reminder!

one of my favourite friends to photograph quite regularly will turn the camera on me after a photo shoot of her. it felt so amazing to see myself as beautiful as seen through someone else's perspective and gave much perspective to what it is i seek to do for those folks i photograph!

here's my picture (its a dyptich of my friend and i)...thats me on the left.

Sometimes I feel trapped behind the camera as my Hubby doesn't always like to take pictures. I make him though, and he is getting better, because I want to see myself beside Lilly too.

This one my brother took the other night, he wasn't too sure how to use my camera...but i love the way it came out (I am on the right and my sister on the left)

this is so true! i somehow made it into 2 photos on this particular day; it's the exception more than the rule though.

As my baby boy says: "Uh Oh." I don't have anything to share.

Paige this is a great picture of you and what a wonder reminder to all of us. I created a slide show for my niece and realized after watching it that I was not in any of the pictures even though I was at many of the events. I too fear my children will look back and wonder where Mom is - but then again they'll know :)

Anyway, today (before reading this post) I handed the camera over to my best friend to capture a picture or two with my kiddos.

I went through my archives of photos and the last time I was actually in a picture was last fall. Pretty pathetic! So I posted the embarrassing photos on my blog.

You look gorgeous, btw!

my kids have started grabbing the camera and turning the tables on me! These are two recent ones -- the one of the three of us she actually shot upside down as that was how her little fingers could push the button when holding the camera at arm's length!

Yep! I had to hand my husband the camera & make him take a picture! He was intimidated because it was my 50mm, which is manual focus on the Nikon D40x. But he did a great job.

i rarely like myself in photographs. but sometimes, taken at the right distance (and preferably with shades on) i feel a little more comfortable, and a little more {me}

This one is kind of a posed candid. I had this same problem today - at the end of the day I realized I wouldn't have any evidence I was there if I didn't make someone else take my camera!

I did that this very weekend after my mom complained the only framed photo she had of me was over 14 years old. So despite the harsh sun at the Carlsbad Flower Fields, I had a friend do a mini-shoot.

I was in Barcelona last week, and over the course of the week, four different groups of people asked me to take their picture with their cameras. I only thought to ask one of them to reciprocate--turned out to be one of only two pix of me taken during the entire trip.
