Children are born true scientists. They spontaneously experiment and experience and reexperience again. They select, combine, and test, seeking to find order - "which is the mostest? which is the leastest?" They smell, taste, bite, and touch-test for hardness, softness, springiness, roughness, smoothness, coldness, warmness: they heft, shake, punch, squeeze, push, crush, rub, and try to pull things apart.

    Megan is truly an experiential learner, so she put on the dress-up clothes, went to the “store” to shop for food (on the table there in the lower right), and got right to work churning the butter. I love the tennis shoes sticking out from the bottom of the dress!

Well first of all, my son Fuller is named for R. Buckminster Fuller. His first name is Buckminster. Obviously, we call him by his middle name.

I'm going to go ahead and submit my best shot Monday picture, since the science involved is cooking, and Fuller got to break his first egg. I'm kind of proud of both his accomplishment and the picture!

Alli, I cannot get OVER that, that your son is named after Buckminster Fuller! That's wild. As I was writing the post I seriously put in a first draft, "...an extra ten points goes to anyone's kid whose name is Buckminster."
