Still So Much to Share

Bebe's Bunny

When I saw this image in our OWP Pool for this months word Share, it melted my heart. Being a mama to a little girl who also held a stuffed bunny near and dear to her heart for years (she still sleeps with it at 11), I immediately associated Bebe's Bunny by KrispyCrunch6 with security, warmth, unconditional love, and sharing. And those are words I often use to describe what we've got happening over here at Shutter Sisters. Thanks to all of us working together in a collective group of creativity, support and acceptance, we have created a unique safe haven for sharing ourselves and our work. I honestly can't think of anything better.

Today is the last day of the month where we say good-bye to our last word and usher in a new one with the blank slate primed for our next challenge. Thanks to HP for being such terrific sponsors! But, I'll tell you, I really hate to see the word share go anywhere. So...let's make a pact. Let's always hold onto sharing around here. As a matter of fact, let's celebrate today, our last official day of the word share with a big huge sisterly Share Fest! Crowd goes wild.

Since we've launched this blog over 18 months ago we have gathered a stellar group of women photographers! And I am talking about all of you! Let's keep growing this community. Today, I ask each and every one of you to SHARE SHUTTER SISTERS! Blog about what's happening here, email your own personal Shutter Sisters, twitter, facebook, invite fellow Flickr friends and images you think are Shutter Sisters material into our pool, call people, talk about us...just share this community in any way that feels good to you!

We've got some great things brewing that we are eager to share with you all and the new friends you invite too so check back tomorrow when we announce the new word for next month's One Word Project and our super-sweet plans for BlogHer this summer in Chicago. It's going to be great, I promise.

And in appreciation of all of you jumping in with our Share Fest we will be giving one of you TWO Shutter Sisters Flash Bulb Necklaces. One for you and one for a friend. It just seems right. So, leave a comment here and tell us how you are sharing Shutter Sisters and you'll be entered in the random drawing. You have until midnight Tuesday night to comment. YAY!

If you haven't already, pop over to yesterday's post and comment there too. You'll be entered to win the National Geographic prize pack! You have until midnight tonight for that one. See?? It's just a big Share Fest around here!

I've been sharing by doing my best to be an active commenter and participant in the flickr stream. It's so amazing to be inspired daily by the wonderful images posted there. I wish I could share more!

So thankful for what your communal site has to offer...I share it with many who visit mine. And - in turn - I share my images with your wonderful community.

Here are two young ones..sharing life's road:

I am in the middle of re-doing my photoblog (and learning how to do some basic html!). You'd better believe that Shutter Sisters will be on my list of favorite links. : )

I just joined the Athens Photography Guild. I'll be sure to share your blog with them. Of course, I blog about you sometimes anyway!
a generoud gift. i already own a wonderful SS necklace that rarely leaves my neck. it is simple and beautiful and reminds me on a daily basis what a joy my passion has become. if i were lucky enough to win i would gift them both to 2 flickr friends who i KNOW share the same passion for photography and shutter sisters. xo

i am sort of new to the site. what i mean to say is that i have been reading for a long time, but just recently have started participating in conversations. i voted for project hope + had a button on my sidebar. i also have a regular shutter sisters button on my sidebar. my photography is new to me, so i am hoping to be brave enough to share picture soon!

While I've been taking pictures since I was in high school, I'm only now learning to capture photographs. It's only been in the last few months that I've had the nerve to share a few images here. I've shared Shutter Sisters with a link on my MySpace page, mentions on my Facebook and Twitter pages and just yesterday, I gave the link to a new friend from my photography class. I'm still contemplating a blog, and when I do, there will be a button there leading here. I think this group is a wonderful resource of inspiration and encouragement.

I spread the word so often on my blog that sometimes I wonder if people think I get paid to endorse Shutter Sisters. lol I also have a Picture Hope and SS button in one of my widgets at the bottom of my page, plus a link on my blogroll page. I'd love to be able to win and share a SS necklace.

I have your site linked in my blogroll, and also posted yesterday about good sites that I enjoy reading, and SS is on that list!

I find that coming here can be like taking a long cleansing breath. I try to share it that as much as I can on my blog so I link to you often. Sometimes I'll even blog about you...

I and a small group of friends have formed our own "Shutter Sisters" group. We do monthly challenges and take field trips to photograph cool things around ATL. I love, love, love Shutter Sisters and have told each of my own "sisters" all about you! Thanks for the inspiration!

I have and continued to gush about the greatness of this blog to all my other woman photographer friends out here on the west coast.
May 31, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterRW
I just *love* that necklace!

I am constantly talking about you guys, blogging about OWP, posting in the pool... but I'd say the biggest way I shared SS is by emailing every single person in my address book when the name your dream assignment was open for public voting. I would say that 80% of the people emailed me back and said they voted! What a great way to share hope!

I always love sharing you guys - such a beautiful network for women and so supportive. My blog wears your button so very proudly.
May 31, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCharlane
I point every female photographer I meet over to you! Great source of inspiration and encouragement!
Can't you just imagine all the questions about those necklaces that will be followed up with more people being introduced to Shutter Sisters. If my Shutter Sister and I won then I am sure people would stop us on our photocations to ask us why we wear the same necklace.

I JUST NOW added a hyperlink from my blog to Shutter Sisters. I have so enjoyed the sharing and inspiration that is present in this wonderful community.

I'm giving a workshop tomorrow for my local photography club. I will make sure that I "share" the goodness that takes place at Shutter Sisters!

i'm always actively searching out sisters. the ones with that shine in their eye. that daydreamy look about them that tells me they love their camera just as much as me. i'm lucky to be surrounded by many sisters (me, the only girl in a family of boys) and when we get to actually be together, walk together in the same direction and then view our photographs side by side to acknowledge the other point of view .. that's about heaven to me. having someone walk next to you, an equal, a love, a dream. there's nothing better. and that's what i find here at shutter sisters. tracey, i hope you know how you have changed so many lives.

I've put up my new website, and I've linked to Shutter Sisters. I've joined the Flickr group and shared several pics.
I've gotten nice feedback, too. Thank you!
I'm sharing this post with my lady photog friends and sharing pictures in the ss flickr group. Happy day!

I've been sharing about the Sisters for some time now, because some of my favorite women *the ones I've met...I'm sure I'd feel the same way about the ones I haven't* are among the contributors.

Most recently, I wrote on BlogHer about Stephanie and Jen's awesome Picture Hope prize. http://www.blogher.com/picturing-hope-shutter-sisters-win-microsoft-dream-assignment

I need to get better about contributing to the pools and contests, but grad school ate my brain. I'm slowly stepping back into the pools...laurie

I share on my blog, on flickr and even in real life. I have had a couple of friends start out in enjoying photography and I have sent them to SS for inspiration and to learn but most of all to be part of an amazing online community.

A facebook friend introduced me to SS through a post a few weeks ago and simultaneously another friend passed their older Rebel onto me (huge gratitude and score!). Suddenly I've found myself yearning to make images again, after years and years of dormant creativity (well, I did make a kid, does that count?). This is thanks in huge part to the inspiration, safety, and visual support of SS. I visit daily for a dose. Thank you for helping me back onto my path. I would be delighted and honored to wear a SS necklace, and the 2nd one, I'd send to my fb friend as a thank you. She likely doesn't even know that she helped to open the world up for me. Soon I'll be making a blog and will get up the courage to share my pictures too.
