Summer, Please Be Kind

wise guy part two

They look like angels, right?  Like the kind of children who would sit quietly for hours playing board games, drawing pictures, asking if they finished all their thank you notes.

But you already know better.

They are little demons of adventure.  They want to ride their bikes in construction sites.  They want to turn the room above the garage into a kid-style karaoke bar.  They want cash for an IKEA run so they can buy a hundred of those twirly egg chairs, so they can line them up on the driveway and spin themselves silly. They want to run businesses!  Have dance parties!  Build rockets!

Now I'm planning to fly around the world and take pictures of hope--which is amazing!  which is a miracle!--but seriously, sisters, I pray to God these kids will have mercy on their subjects--oops! i mean supervisors--while I'm working around the clock, getting ready to go.  I pray a nice kind Mary Poppins whose way smarter than they are will land on my doorstep and whip us all into shape, before Kid Nation rules my world.

What are you wishing for this summer?  Who are the subjects at your house who are threatening a takeover?  Show us your angels, your demons, your precious darlings with those impish grins.  We need to know what you're facing, as summer stares us down.

Here are my four little devils. Honestly, the furry ones are harder to keep track of then the children.

From last July: http://emmatree.blogspot.com/2008/07/day-of-small-things.html

We get these two lovelies on & off throughout the summer. I expect more of the same this year, and truly, as exhausting as it can be, I cannot wait. :)

Here are my little cuties. They appear to be all sweet and lovely, but underneath the surface they're plotting and planning!

Although I don't see them daily, these three are insanity whenever we are around. (I'm told that they are ALWAYS insanity...) But oh, oh, how cute they are :)

Right after the jeep shot at the end the two darling girls completely ran over their brother and had him pinned and screaming bloody murder while the engine revved and they giggled. I hear he still won't go near the thing...it's going to be a long summer for this sensitive boy and his demonic baby sisters :)

The only thing threatening to take over at my house is the crappy weather! I have not yet been able to feel very "summer-y" http://dxeechick.blogspot.com/2009/06/ok-seriously.html

My daughter attended a backyard tea party. It was the most delightful time for our princesses and the moms.

With the first photo, I tried my hand a sepia tones.

Here's my two year old who will be three in August, just after his baby brother is born. I'm hoping he'll be a good big brother and deal with the transition in a good way.

Yes, may the summer be kind to all of us this year. I still have a few more days to go until school is out for my pumpkins. Alas my teenage daughter will have some of her time occupied with attending a class at the local college because she can't wait to leave home as soon as she is able. And I am positive she already has plans to spend as much time as possible with her friends and boyfriend the rest of the summer. That will leave my son CJ home alone with mommy to amuse himself as I try to work a little around planning trips and adventures with some of his friends.
In closing I have no pictures to share as I sold my old cameras to pay for my new camera which FedEx will hopefully deliver in a timely fashion on Friday. Until then i wish all of you Shutter Sisters a scent-sational Wednesday!

Here he is...four and a half, in a phase of gross motor development (says the teacher in me) and jumping off of everything, and talking. Always talking, asking, telling, harrassing, ordering, commanding. Ten weeks of summer look great to me now, but I may be singing a different tune in week #2...

My kids are older and the challenge now is not how to keep them entertained but rather entertained and productive too.

Still cute, but sometimes a little alarming! We're going to have a great summer, though. This is such a wonderful age. :)
