horizon: a bel kai necklace for the capture collection (giveaway!)

Living in the Midwest has provided me with a lifetime of different seasons and ever-changing landscapes. We live through the long, harsh winters just to be rewarded with the stunning beauty of spring, summer and fall. The colors around me are constantly changing, but my favorite combination in nature and life is aqua blue, grass green and rich brown. My own logo and marketing materials utilize this combo and I am often drawn to these colors in clothing. So of course, my camera lens is always on the hunt for these hues.

I'm excited to share my Bel Kai Designs necklace, the latest addition to the Capture Collection of Shutter Sisters photographic jewelry. This piece combines all three of my favorite colors and upon closer inspection the layers of color reveal an image of a wide open green field and blue sky near my hometown. I can't think of a better way to remind me of growth and life throughout the long winter months (and the rest of the year).

We are delighted to be giving away one of these beauties today. Just leave your comment here by Saturday at midnight EST. Just tell us your favorite color scheme.

UPDATE: Congrats to Erin Faye for winning a Horizon necklace!

It's the opposite end of the year from now, but the blues, pinks & yellows of daffodil-cherryblossom spring do it for me every time. http://flic.kr/p/6dV6zp :)

Ah, I'm a Midwest girl, too, and that photo portrays a scene I love! I also love the wide open blue skies, especially combined big white clouds and the golds of late summer, much like this one:

I too love the seasons of the Midwest. Moving here from California two years ago I am enjoying the changing colors. Spent a couple hours yesterday out capturing the fall colors. Love all of the yellows, oranges, and reds.

I'm not drawn to any particular color combination, but favor a pop instead. Usually, it's red. But during fall, I'm always drawn to canary yellow, especially when it seems out of place or unexpected.

I too live in the Midwest and as bad as the winters can be (in Chicago and surrounding burbs), I would not change a thing or move. I love the changing seasons and what goes with them (Fall being my favorite). I also do love browns and blue colors. Little by little they are creeping into my home and my projects.
October 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLinda Binder
I love greens of all shades. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I get to see many, many shades. This summer I went to Ireland and was Completely. Blown. Away. by the iridescent greens. Add that to a backdrop of ocean blue/grey/aqua and I'm in heaven.
October 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRebecca
I like green and orange, like the moment at the beginning of fall when some trees are turning, but not all.
October 9, 2010 | Unregistered Commentermargosita
I love the colors of the ocean- the varying shades of blue and green.
October 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDanyelle
Lovely! My go-to combination would probably be white, a light teal-blue, and tan, as far as clothes are concerned.

In looking for photo ops in the nature scene, it would be looking for that outlining glow of plants and trees from golden rays of sunlight :)
October 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha
I love different natural shades of green, but I also love bright green, magenta, and peacock blue as a color combo.
