obsessions.

Obsessions (noun):the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc.

I have a beautiful tree right in my yard that changes with the seasons and brings me great pleasure.  In the autumn as the tree begins to shed its orange and red leaves, a whole new world opens up to me.  The tree is just outside of my balcony and I'm able to sit quietly in my patio chair and observe the world of the gorgeous finches that grace the tree.  I have to admit: I've become obsessed with these birds.  They entrance me with their expressions, as if they're watching me watching them.  I've never really paid much attention to them before but now, I can't get enough of them.  Even more so, I cannot take enough photos of these little guys.  I'm now known in my house as "The Bird Lady".

What about you? Is there something that you love to photograph over and over again? Please share...because I don't want to be the only one with an obsession!

I guess my so-called 'obsessions' or 'subjects' change. I've been obsessed by birds:

And by ducks:

And lately by dogs at play:

Doesn't everyone have some kind of obsession. I am obsessed with the orchids at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. There are so many varieties, and every time I visit, there is something new in bloom or just starting to bloom. I love the different shapes and sizes. I just love it!

Love the image of your birds.

I always come away from a photo shoot with more pictures of feet and toes than I remembered taking.

fun fun! if there is something to be obsessed about, birds are a good thing! i too am a bird lover... so much so that i have a button on my blog sidebar called "bird lover" that links to all my posts about birds or with photos of birds. none of my photos are as beautiful as this one, though. lovely!

i am also a fan of trains and am somewhat taken with photographing them. i'm not sure why i love them so much. i think it has to do with the movement. i live near the train station, so i like to take the train when i can and photograph it when i can. i also have a button for my train pictures in my sidebar called "fascinated by trains". here are those posts:

I WISH I could take pictures of birds. They're so hard. And we don't seem to have pretty birds like these here.

I really like taking pictures of flowers but my new obsession has been Danbo:

I love your finches - lucky you that they are sharing some time with you! I don't have any birds in my yard (yet) although we recently added a couple of bird houses, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I love to photograph my animal family - 5 dogs and 1 cat. Someone is always willing to smile for the camera and they make me smile too.

I love your latest obsession -- they're beautiful!

For me, the past few weeks it has been sunrises and sunsets. Our beautiful winter mountains show them off to perfection. This morning on the way to school, my son said, "You don't have to take a picture of every one of them...."

Capturing all the varied expressions of this little guy is my obsession (combined here with my other obsession of late: using natural light).

The tree outside my office! I know I already posted a link to it before (it's my only photography project thus far and I'm not very good), but checking on it every day and watching the sky change behind it has been so meditative before I start my day...

Though my chocolate lab is brown now, has always been brown, and will always be brown (except for the white patches he's acquiring with age), I can't stop taking pictures of his sweet, expressive face and all his delicious chocolatey goodness. http://www.flickr.com/photos/juju-b/sets/72157622712787235/

Awesome post and love your image!

Oh yes, I have an obsession, so you're not alone, AT ALL considering the number of comments! I have a miniature horse who is totally full of himself. He is so photogenic and offers plenty of opportunity to do so. I simply can't get enough of him! He is scattered throughout my blog but the following link is my latest:

My latest obsession is creating a life for a little guy I call Sticky Chicken. It is bizarre and fun and lets me be totally creative in my photos and my writing...

oh obsessions! how boring life would be without them! old stuff and signs are my two biggest at the moment. or -- best of both worlds -- old signs.

Do you have to pick just one? My obsessions are sort of schizophrenic. My little guy keeps me pretty close to home most days. When inspiration fails me, there are a few go-to plants which seem to get the light at the right times for our regular routines. I can almost always see something new and beautiful in them.

When I get a slightly longer leash, I love to hunt for fading and/or disappearing man made whimsy and beauty from the mid 20th century.
