Patterns

Well... One could say that this photo is kind of naughty! But actually, contrary to what you may be thinking, the girl pictured in the shot did not try to flash me with a hint of her tights! :) Nope. What I captured was actually a tiny 'Marilyn Monroe' moment, as she held her skirt when a gush of wind tried to lift it up at the corner of Powell & Sutter in San Francisco.

In the moment, I hardly even saw legs! All I saw was a feast of patterns: the juxtaposition of the swirls on her skirt, the pink leopard print on her shopping bag, the checkered walls, and all those designs, nicely pulled together by the whites, blacks and pinks. Such a treat for a photographer's eye, don't you think? As far as my 'photo obsessions' go, I have to say that seeing and shooting patterns is very high on my list (which explains my love for fashion photography!).

How about you? Do you notice patterns? Show us what kind of designs, lines, shapes, fabrics and patterns, you've been shooting.

What wonderful capture! I could not help but wonder if she noticed you as you took the photograph.
Interesting photo.

You know.... I never seem to notice patterns like I should. They just don't catch my eye. Also maybe it is because the landscape around here is so rural our patterns are more trees and sky...hmmm.

love those clashing yet complimentary patterns:

i tend to notice repeating lines, which create a pattern of their own:

Fantastic capture and I love what your eye was drawn to.

Last night I posted this on my photo journal. The first is a diptych of pattern and texture.

I left the city a year ago and now, on return visits, I find I notice patterns in the urban landscape much more than I did when I lived there:

I'm loving your captures! For those of you in more rural settings, check out Tracey's pic on her last post 'Picture Summer'. I love how the pattern on the girl's skirt complements the greenery in the background! Keep the goodness coming!!
That's a fabulous image - love it!

For some reason I tend to notice brick patterns pretty often, and the way that the pattern of the bricks is complemented by things that are fastened to the wall::

This is just a simple iPhone shot for my P365, but I really was struck by the silhouettes, lines and movement going on: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trudem/4605599570/
