signs

I love signs. I love the little splashes of color they bring into my everyday life. I love how versatile they are, the imagery they evoke, and the many stories they inspire.

And I was pleasantly surprised while browsing our Shutter Sisters Flickr Pool to find out that I'm not the only one! Check this Neat Vintage Shell Shop Sign, this beautiful sign, the great composition of this one, this one is a classic and this one makes me squeal with delight.

What about you? Do you love photographing signs? If yes, please do share your thoughts and images in the comment section below.

My favorite sign has got to be the one that is everywhere in VA Beach.

I love photographing signs, both at home and when I'm abroad. I love how they are such small things in themselves, but yet such potentially interesting contributions to the surrounding landscape. Here's a beautiful one from Helsinki: http://www.flickr.com/photos/85057042@N00/3956012173/
and a favourite from home: http://www.flickr.com/photos/85057042@N00/3438594083/

I'm drawn to signs. Especially those that evoke a feeling of the past. Ones with old fonts, a little rust...I walk by this sign all the time, and have noticed and studied it thinking I should take a picture. But I always have my 85mm on the camera, or the kids are screaming... finally took a photo of it last week.

I really love the way you captured the real person walking with the painted person walking.

Not too long ago I went to Bastrop, Texas for a 5k race. I came across some vintage signs while shopping in town and on the way there I had to stop and get a picture of the sign on the world's largest teapot in Navasota, Texas at Matha's Bloomers (I was excited to see Kelly Rae Roberts work in one of the shops inside!).

All over southern China in March, I got a kick out of photographing signs with unique translations. This one warns of the tight passageway in a cave....

Irene, I LOVE your creativity with this sign photo. So well seen and captured.

I like shooting photos of foreign signs. This particular post is more about the food but I loved the little chalkboard signs just randomly thrown into the barrels of fruits and veggies.

Nice to see that there are so many other sign lovers out there! I love neon signs, painted signs, ghost signs (the faded painted signs on walls). They are little time capsules - their colors, typography and graphic elements are usually really of a time. Here are a few of my favorites.

Great photograph! I used to take pictures of signs when I was single and travelled more. Now that I'm married with 2 young boys, I tend to take photos of them. I'm enjoying perusing through everyone's photos of signs. Thanks for sharing.

I was wandering around my hotel on a business trip and saw this stop sign. I'm not sure why why it piqued my interest, but something about the late afternoon light made me see it differently. http://www.flickr.com/photos/40070449@N08/4524886110/
