Harvesting

I recently read a quote by Hundertwasser that said "Painting is to dream. When the dream
is over, I don t remember anything I dreamed about. The painting, however, remains. It is the harvest of my dream."

I thought that was a perfect quote for our Photography as well. On the daily basis, we pay attention to our surroundings, we enearth feelings, we reap best moments, and we find a way to make our vision tangible, lasting... We indeed work on the harvesting of our dreams.

I just love that as we're gathering bits and pieces of our lives, we are actually assembling something really powerful that will remain. It is so exciting for me to think that someday when we are long gone, our work may still live, feeding the inspiration of others, and consequently, continuing to produce more and more crops of nourishing Art in this world.

Now, show us: What sorts of beautiful images have you been harvesting lately?

...........

And because it's Giveaway May and we're taking about harvesting dreams here, we've got an amazing giveaway:

Artist, Author, and Possibilitarian Kelly Rae Roberts is giving one lucky reader/commenter a spot in her upcoming e-course, Flying Lessons: Tips + Tricks To Help Your Creative Business Soar. Great post and thank you, Shutter Sisters and Kelly Rae! Thanks everyone for sharing their harvests of dreams and photographs. Angella, the photo of your daughter at ballet is beautiful and precious.

It was only recently with the launch of new website encouraging the exploration of dreams, giving voice to our wishes and celebrating the joys that will always come trying did I begin to consciously stop to take photographs of the beauty all around us.

Create the life you seek.

I just harvested a big dream and talked about it on my blog - sistersoftheart.blogspot.com. I spent weeks creating handpainted gifts to decorate a table at a spring luncheon. Each item was different & "repurposed" from old silverplate & such.

And the giveaway is fantastic! Can't wait for "Flying Lessons" to begin!

May 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenternapangel
My sister sent me this link, and it comes at the perfect time for me. I have had many artistic creative jobs---all pre-computers...taking a break to raise my kids. I was able to work at home for a few years but was let go about a year ago-and have been looking-looking-looking for another job, but am having a terrible time at finding something that I am qualified for. I was thinking of using my talents to start my own business, and am so inspired by Kelly Rae-infact am reading her book "Taking Flight" to inspire me. I would LOVE to take her course and help me harvest my dream and have her to guide my journey!
May 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLori

Thank you for this awesome opportunity!!!
May 7, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterdebbiejl
I love the metaphor of the harvest as well... what would the creative process be if there weren't growth, the cutting away of things that are mature... ready, and planting the seeds to start something new?
This site as always is a true inspiration ~ thank you!

May 7, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterValentina
What a wonderful way of thinking of the images we capture with our camera! I am always loathe to delete even one because even though it may not seem important to someone else...at the very moment it was 'harvested' I WAS the ONLY one to witness it in that way. Tomorrow I will be harvesting the memories of my daughter's BFF as she walks down the aisle. All of the unimportant stuff... like the bride having her hair done, nails polished, and then getting dressed...is being captured by me and no one else...I am truly blessed!
What a lovely quote. I'm at a weird place and have noticed that I've been burying my dreams lately. I need to get more in touch with what they are and how to work towards moving closer to them.
