extra light

I am keenly aware that the days are getting longer now and each extra moment of sunlight in the evening matters to me. But in case I forget to take note of the extra light, mother nature has been reminding me with beautiful sunsets this week. Now that we've gotten over the hump and are moving into a new year, I feel like I can start the count down to spring (nothing against you winter, but I am not a big fan of yours). I'm getting my hopes up that warmer days are just around the corner. A girl can dream.

What's bringing you hope right now? Share your images with us.

Gorgeous photo! I actually love the winter, but the lack of light can be dull. We are keeping some of our Christmas lights up until Spring. They always make me smile, esp. in the snow!

Ah, yes, the hope of a new day.

What is bringing me hope, more like joy, right now is... receiving a box full of love letters between my grandparents while they were dating in 1944!

Last night was a beautiful sunset here...I love when the skies are stormy during the day and you know it will make for a pretty sunset!

I feel spring right around the corner too. I realized this week that the sun is setting later in the evening. I was able to catch the light after work one evening instead of going home in the dark. The sunset was so beautiful and I was so glad to have had an opportunity to see and photograph it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pddesigns/5334773343/lightbox/

I'm finding hope bright and colorful indoor 'play' during these grey days of winter:

I'm all about the light lately as well - every little bit of it gives me hope that winter will in fact end at some point. Not a big fan of winter either!

I'm with you on the lengthening days. This was a sunset I photographed one day last week, before the snow moved in... http://www.flickr.com/photos/cu_tiger/5322252550/

The buds on the trees and bushes in my yard are giving me so much hope.

We've been getting extraordinary sunset too . . . on the days without total cloud cover, that is.

If you are looking you can see all kinds of harbingers of spring - even in winter.

I'm not always a big fan of winter either... but some soft white snow and a beautiful sunset does help:

I used to dread winter too but that was before I moved to Northern California from Chicago! It's a little cold here, and it's dark when I leave work, but there are still leaves on the trees and green grass on the ground. This was shot a little over a month ago but not much has changed here! http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephaniecourt/5234823075/

While driving to and from work in the dark is most definitely NOT my favorite thing at this time of year, getting to see glorious sunsets and sunrises makes it worthwhile!

We get some of the most amazing sunsets out of our front window. This is one of the them. Unfortunately the power lines do take away from the photo but I still love the colors.

We've been blessed with abundant sunshine so far this year!
It really helps to temper the winter cold and gives us gorgeous sunsets like yours!

Gorgeous sunset!

Not a fan of Winter, either. And like a lot of the US, we're bracing for more snow to move in tomorrow.

What's giving me hope now? Ahhhh, the thought of a girl's trip to the beach in March to celebrate the arrival of Spring. The thought of sitting in THIS spot keeps me going:

Like you, I can't wait to see spring arrive. To feel spring arrive. The last couple of days I felt like winter was finally passing, even though I know it's here to stay for a couple of months. But still, I had spring on my mind. And yesterday I found these sprouts in our garden. Proof. I'm not crazy. Spring is coming. Maybe not fast, but it will be here.

The light when it comes out is so welcomed around here. :) Some people pay little attention but it's something to look at when it does appear!
