fall inspiration

As the days get darker I've been trying to find comfort and inspiration in the little things of the world: homemade granola, stripes, books from the local library, beautiful scarves, lighbulbs and scented candles, craft ideas, a favorite talk, a great cause.

What has been inspiring you these days?

My latest inspiration came from participating in Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photowalk. This image of a Chilean Flamingo, shot at the NC Zoo last weekend, caught my eye. He was standing in mottled sunlight adding to the contrast of the dark background.

I love fall for all the nifty (and thrifty) crafts that can be made. My inspiration these days comes from all that vibrant, fun Halloween candy adorning practically every store shelf in the nation and beyond. For crafting, not eating, of course ;)
Yesterday I made a Candy Corn Halloween Tree, because I had the vase, the floral sponge and I found a most perfect branch outside in my neighborhood. The candy corn was the only thing I purchased for the project and it was under five dollars. I snapped a quick shot yesterday, but have added a little birds nest and will be posting more shots later today. You can get the idea of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thedivinemissm/6225079360/in/photostream

Happy Autumn Sisters! <3

Every year around Columbus Day our town gets transformed into what is known as Pumpkin Fest. I get totally inspired by this event. Take a look and enjoy the fun:

This is the time of year that my sister and her daughter spend a few days with us. And each year my niece clammers for us to go 'do a model shoot'. What started out as just a fun way to give my sister a break for a few hours, has become a photo journal of her daughter growing towards adulthood.

This weekend - it's been the simple color of the changing leaves:

apples. this time of year i LOVE apples. they're so natural and beautiful and crispy cold and fresh from the orchard. and am with you on the scarves front. though we've had a cooler-than-usual summer, autumn always brings a happy return to the scarf shelf in the closet. and see if it has room for more friends!!

I love this time of year, and of course, the leaves always provide inspiration:

And I was lucky enough to visit Lake Michigan last week - the beach is beautiful, even with the cool weather.

In the PNW it can be sunny one day and rainy the next. So typical of fall: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50654891@N07/6223181477/

I draw comfort from nesting. Whether is is bring out warm, soft throws, baking applesauce bread, or building a fire. Autumn is for nesting. Here is my blog post:

Autumn leaves. I've been blogging photos of them since the beginning of the week. I always feel like fall is officially here once I see some color on the trees.
