savor

savor~ to appreciate fully; enjoy or relish

Today we turn the page on our calendars and welcome in December. With it we introduce the new One Word for December, savor. Just as we begin ushering in the busyness of the holiday season, the endless lists, to-dos, and obligations that suddenly fill our calendars, don't you think it is perfect timing for this word? Rather than surrendering to the hustle and bustle that December can bring, give yourself permission to slow down, reflect, pause, honor and celebrate the beauty of these days through your lens. What am I savoring these days? The fleeting light of winter. Just yesterday, after many consecutive grey days here in my corner of the world, the sun shone bright. I wandered though my home chasing the light, honoring its presence, savoring a sun patch, capturing it's grace in my lens.

This month savor the quiet moments, the steam of a perfect cup, their smallness that is so fleeting, or perhaps savor something sweet.   Savor your time together, the wonder of believing, and the stillness of winter.

Today let's welcome in this new month and word together.

Share your images with us all month long in our One Word Project Pool on Flickr. (tag your One Word photos this month with the following: owp, savor, december)

What are you savoring right now?

There is nothing we savor more than THIS sisterhood. So what better time to announce the newest addition to our Bel Kai Capture Collection? You’ve asked for it, and now we’ve got it! The brand new Shutter Sisters Necklace (just in time for the holidays, we might add)!

We are giddy to be partnering yet again with the amazing Bel Kai Designs for this exclusive piece: an antique bronze setting and fine link chain that brilliantly showcases the iconic image of Shutter Sisters while the blue quartz bead charm paired with the pendant symbolizes the vintage flash bulb.

Please check out Bel Kai’s holiday shipping guide to be sure you get your necklace in time for the holidays!

Gorgeous pendant :)

I've made a promise to myself to slow down this Christmas, so not so much cooking and fussing and more relaxing, which means more photography and more fun.

I am also attempting to savor the last weeks of this year; even going so far to cancel a few appointments that could be rescheduled for January. Time is passing by quicker than I like (especially watching through my growing children).

I've been looking forward to Picture the HOlidays starting up this month for that exact reason: so that I can savor my favorite time of year. I want my son to grow loving the entire season- not just the one day. It's such a magical time!

Bel Kai did a beautiful job with the pendant!

grey days . . . sun shone bright . . . savor seems very appropriate. Coincidentally,I had the very same sense a few days ago and tried worked on an abstract that might reflect that.

Savor. I'm just savoring the sound and the concept of the word. It's such a pleasant thought, isn't it? Savor.

PS - I have the first Shutter Sisters necklace and it is one of two that I wear most often. The new one is simple and lovely. A necklace to savor.

I am absolutely thrilled to be participating more regularly in the OWP. I cannot wait to slow down with all of you and savour : the beautiful moments with family and friends, the deliciousness from meals over the holidays, and the coziness that accompanies winter.

Kristin, the images your chose to feature in this post are stunning. I was oohing and awing the WHOLE TIME.

Hello, December.

Savor is one of my favorite words, and the word I use when I express how lucky I feel to be able to stay at home with my daughter. This is a great word for December too, with the holidays and the cooling temperatures which make so many of us appreciate creature comforts. Love it!

The first sip of the day. Now I'm ready to savor the rest of it. ;)

December always feels like a downhill roller coaster ride. Savor is a good word for the month, to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the moment, a perfect little mantra.

I think savor is my Christmas Manifesto this year. Tracey taught me the value of savoring the season last year with Picture the Holidays. Thank you Tracey and all the Shutter Sisters for the inspiration today and everday.

Yes, I too am savoring the holidays. Knitting, baking, tea with friends. Making most of our gifts this year and enjoying the process by thinking about the intended recipient. I think this is going to be one of our happiest holidays yet! Thanks for the reminder to slow down and drink it all in, sip by sip.
December 1, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbeth
savor, it is what I had already decided to do this season, after the decade of stress/uncertainty, I am ready just to savor and rejoice in the details of each day. How affirming that my mission will be supported here.
December 1, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermerlin
What a gorgeous necklace! I'd love to own one.

I have found myself savoring moments when I see the sun hitting certain objects...while in the house, walking to the train...whenever the moments come.
December 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLee Ann
Savor is such a timely prompt! The pace of life gets really fast these next few weeks.
December 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJess
Savor, what a great word. I am savoring the time I spend with my daughters. I am trying to take it all in, to make the time we have together count (since I am a full time working mama, this time is limited). This image is very special to me, even though it's far from perfect, the light was not good and it's not that sharp. But the moment was pure bliss and as honest as it can be. It is also part of my series "Everyday Mother" which are the images I am most proud of.

right now i'm savoring my walks in the river canyon. my aim is to exercise, but i remind myself once i hit the trail to slow down and savor my surroundings - the quiet, the dragonflies (still! in december!), the sunlight, the changing leaves. i'll have to take my camera with me next time so i can share.
