distraction

We've got a new baby in the house. Totally unplanned. Totally unexpected. And yet, here he is.

As I was thinking about how to express all the things that we are dealing with on a daily basis around here, I just kept thinking of the word distraction. He is quite a distraction on a number of levels. Looking up the word for it's literal meaning led me to perhaps my new most favorite list of words ever.

The definition was far less interesting than the synonyms.

Ready?

Bafflement, bamboozlement, befuddlement, bemusement, bewilderedness, bewilderment, confusedness, discombobulation, confusion, fog, head-scratching, muddle, mystification, perplexity, puzzlement, tangle, whirl.

Absolutely YES to all of the above. This puppy is officially a distraction.

Can you relate? Show us something that distracting you right now. Chances are it's as much as a muse as a distraction.

LOVE your new distraction! And so understand the bamboozlement!

I think I need to take a screen shot for my distraction lately!

Cuteness! My distraction is a flooded basement. I like yours better.

Our distraction right now is the stomach flu. Pretty sure no one wants to see a picture of that... ;o)

I can't sleep at night. I am totally tangled up in the process of visioning, planning, executing a new product line. Who know's if it will fly?! Right now I am so consumed by the process my family will probably file a missing persons claim ;)
One Love and here's a link if you please...

Bamboozlement. What a gorgeous word. I am going to think of a blogpost to just use that word. Bamboozlement. Sounds like something for Mary Poppins, doesn't it?

Anyway, your bamboozlement looks very cute. I love those eyes and ears. Adorable!

Scratching my head about all the words I have never heard about before. Lovely new member of your family. Beautiful shot.

I'm baffled to think that you've been bamboozled and befuddled by this adorable little creature whose only sense of confusion is YOUR state of bewilderment. He looks bemused to me! Lovely pup who has been fortunate enough to find a loving home, even if his people are discombobulated. I think he just needs a good head-scratching. :D)

LOL Dotti's comment! How fun!

Winter is becoming distracting here. Miserably so, and yet I can't help but capture it.

What a cutie pie! No wonder you're distracted! :) I've been totally distracted by the smell of jasmine. The plant in the backyard has finally reached epic proportions and you can smell it with the windows closed. Seriously. Good thing it's the best smell on the planet!

My daily distraction is my little diva, Sophie.

However, today I circled a date on the calendar, not too far away, that will bring my son home from Afghanistan. Now how can I possibly concentrate on anything between now and then?!

He is incredibly adorable. Congratulations! :)!

Here's my distraction, and yes, she is my main muse;
an intuitive pup who cares deeply about snails and wounded dragonflies
and who will do anything to follow me, even climb ladders:

Oh, I love the new puppy! Those unexpected things in life are pretty awesome.

We unexpectedly bought a new animal into our lives - we bought a horse! Totally unplanned. But that makes things more interesting.

No distractions here, just impulses, that is how I look at it

he is so sweet! may he bring you such fun and laughter!

the past two afternoons, i have been so distracted by the late afternoon sun breaking through the drizzle and roving across the tops of the newly budded flowers ...

and, of course, i'm also completely distracted by learning how to use kim klassen textures!

When we first got our puppy I thought she was a distraction ALL the time. Now, she is a distraction only a few times a day. Seriously, it gets better. You gotta love them.

I have two dogs (just turned a year old, they're siblings) and two cats. I was going to say that our dogs are a distraction, but actually, my cat Jaffrey who is currently rubbing against my laptop and clawing me for attention, is quite the distraction. Jaffrey is a fantastic friend, but definitely a distraction while I'm trying to type.

This is my favorite picture of him: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberlygauthier/4528866323/in/set-72157623222631274/
IDo you have a jack Russell puppy...congrats! Our jack, Sadie, is now two years old and distraction is a great word for her. Be prepared if you don't know about the jacks...they are sooo intelligent! and require soooo much attention. It will take patience, but they are so worth it. Sadie is such a part of our family. But her puppyhood was a challenge. AT two she has settled down quite a bit, but still jumps with joy when anyone enters the house. She loves to play and go for walks. Have a great time with your pup.
