texture love

mouse over to see the before texture photo

I ♥ textures.  You may already know that. :) I will never forget the first time I placed a texture on a photo....changed the blend mode... and poof...  MAD LOVE! I find the process completely magical.

How bout you?  Have you been bitten by the texture bug? Have you tried? Honestly.. it's so much fun!

If the whole process is completely new to you.... check out these tutorials on my site. And here's a little texture gift for you as well.  Just a little something to get your started.  Maybe today's the day!

Share your textured fav with us... We'd love to see....

I'm not usually one for textures. But I've seen pictures from others that I love. I just tried it for the very first time the other day. Not perfect. Not even the perfect picture for it, but I like it.

Oh, those flowers are beautiful! I love textures too.

You'll see many examples on my 365/52 photography blog:

Of recent shots, I'd say this is my new favorite:

I have been bitten and it's all your fault!

I love how a texture can take something as mundane as cedar shingles on my house and give it greater visual interest

I am now completely addicted to textures, thanks to you Kim! I just finished your last Skinny Mini class and fell in love.

Here is one where I added a few different textures:

And here are two that I added texture just to bring more warmth to the picture:

Oh Kim!!!!! Thank you for sharing the lovely texture, the tutorial, and your beautiful image!!!! I can't wait to see the videol!

I ((love)) texture, and have been putting in a layer of texture into many of my images this past year. Here is an example:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/crunchyfootsteps/5369931321/in/set-72157622007173073/

Also, I would like to share a texture with all of you- it's a handmade paper texture- if you like it, just download it off of my Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/crunchyfootsteps/5496586249/

It's about 9MB, 300 dpi.

Have a great day, All!

I'm slowly developing a love for textures, too, thanks to your beautiful images!! I love the little *oomph* textures can give to an otherwise blah photo. In fact, I just posted a texturized photo on my blog today: http://bigmariolife.blogspot.com/2011/03/friday-foto-primavera.html

Really BIG fan here...

I added a texture layer to this shot and blended it using the color blending mode. I adjusted the opacity to bring in just a bit of the color from the texture. So much fun!

For some reason when I think of my fridge, I think "dirty" so a texture works great:)

When I first began to get "serious" about photography, I was a real purist, all about color, clarity, sharpness. Then I discovered Shutter Sisters, then you, Kim, and lately Bliss and Folly. I began to drool over textures. Here's one of my recent photos with a Kim Klassen texture:

Also, love the freebie texture you've attached!!

You're right...maybe today is the day! I am so new to photoshop that I have not given it a try. But I love so much of what can be made using them, so I need to dive in! Thanks for the free texture and the tutorial!

I have been admiring textured images for quite a while but never knew how to do them. About a month ago, I discovered a whole new world of textures on flickr and watched some of the tutorials from your site and Distressed Jewell. Still learning the process but am already addicted! I have signed up for your photoshop class too!

Once you start with the textures there's no going back........!
Kim is a great teacher, I sometimes feel that she is sat next to me as I learn from her easy to follow tutorials.

You continue to inspire me, Kim, with your creations, your enthusiasm and your generosity. Here is a textured photo of mine that I love. It's of skaters on the Rideau canal on Ottawa one snowy day this winter.

you are a master of texture.
i had a phase where i was obsessed with playing with them but never felt like i hit my stride. i would always waffle on what i liked best. then i kind of got away form it all together. i do have a few faves though from when i experimented with them.
this one comes to mind.

Once I got the hang of how to do textures, yes, I began to the love them. And, there are so many other photographers out there that use them so well, that it's inspiring. This is my favorite textured photo I've ever done. As I played, this emerged and I was so happily surprised!

Oo thank you very much for this beautiful texture!!! I'm a very big texture lover, too!! I love to play with them and test how they change my photos. It's so fun!!!
This one I edited as well with a texture as I wanted to create a more magical feeling and give the boring background an extra touch: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stepko/5083777595/
And for the photos in this thread I used the texture as a background...I like it as the color fits so perfectly to my Gadmo...

Now I will visit your photos and aww about them!!! wow!!
