pocketful of quarters

In our play, we reveal what kind of people we are.  ~ Ovid, Roman poet (43 BC–18 AD)

Today, show us play so intent that they didn't even know you were there. Child's play, grown-up play - show us moments of concentrated joy.

Oooh I love this post.
Here is my mom and Owen. He kept asking her to try, but wouldn't give her a turn. He had to keep showing her how.

Each year for spring break, we go to Grayton Beach, Florida. 'Giant Penguin' must always come along as well:

this is a fave of mine from last summer. the timelessness of good old skeeball. i remember being that kid watching the blinking lights, and looking for the tickets to come spitting out below, and now my kids are those kids. the fun & anticipation.

I'm really going to enjoy looking at the pics of those who comment today. I am all about play and even study it, use it for therapeutic purposes and blog about it at http://playcrane.blogspot.com.

Here's one of my favorite pics of my daughter playing when she was 4. It is a photo I scanned:

Love this photo. The reflection makes it perfect.
Having a 2.5 year old, suddenly there's all kind of concentrated playful energy around me. This weekend he learned about the joys of kite flying. And man oh man was he ever taken with it.

One of my favorite posts to date. =) These photos are all so much fun! I wish it was warm enough outside for me to go out and "play."

Once again, my nephew.

We have no children in our family at the moment, mine are grown and have yet to become parents themselves, so this is a candid shot.

I caught my husband playing hopscotch with his granddaughter and had to work to get a quick snap.

This is one of my favorite posts about our dogs...they're having a conversation with each other: http://www.kimberlygauthier.com/dog-photography/what-puppies-talk-about/388/

Christmas time (I think) when I was wrapping presents. Dogs will make a toy out of anything: http://www.kimberlygauthier.com/dog-photography/water-bottles-paper-tubes-towels/2807/

Here's one that I've posted already, but it was when we first took them to the dog park: http://www.kimberlygauthier.com/dog-photography/no-surprise-dogs-will-be-dogs/2084/
Someone joined the cleaning party and got totally lost into playing. He stood with his rain jacket in the shower...

I always try to get in the front row during basketball games and I always love it when the ball is going to be brought in right in front of me.

What a great shot...love the reflection.

When I read this post, I immediately thought of this photo I took on Sunday. I love that I was able to capture the pure fun they were having.

I took this at my granddaughter's 3rd birthday party. Here is her older
brother taking his turn at the pinata. Going after that pinata is one of the
few times the kids didn't notice me taking pictures.
