moody

"No winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn."

I know these words are true, yet this winter sure has me feeling like a non believer.  April snow, icy rains, unseasonable low temps. Then yesterday a fog so thick it felt like winter soup. Barely a green thing to be found. I am kind of beyond calling it a funk.  So what to do?  I still find myself carrying my camera with me everywhere I go.  Is it hope or habit?  I sure see my images match my mood, darker, moody, even a bit sad.  Not everyday is sunshine and rainbows, though I am sure ready for some.  Do you feel your mood seep into your photography?  Does art imitate life or the other way around?

i just love this moody picture and the hope giving quote. i may as well put it as a title for all my latest shots. i live in a place where winter lasts more than other seasons and by april i get so very tired of whites, greys and bare trees. i do take sometimes my camera with me (hope or habit, hard to say) but i also tend to go into my archives for more colorful and more happy pictures.

Oh man, I so understand your frame of mind, Kristin. It's been the exact same way here in Nova Scotia. Still snow..not much but enough to make you depressed. It's been gloomy and grey. When the sun comes out..it's usually bitterly cold. Blah. So the other day I grabbed my camera and went for a walk in the woods...determined to find green. Sigh. I was mostly unlucky but then I spotted these and I was soo happy. Funny how pussywillows and blue sky can change everything..

I love your moody, foggy blue photo with that lone drop just...just waiting...to fall.
It's no longer cold in Florida, but we've had saturating, relentless rains that are tough for those
of us so used to the sun. Swollen rivers, soggy yards, mud. On the flip side, the moody sky last night presented some signs of hope.

We had a big thunder and rain storm pass through yesterday and everything was dark and gloomy. I found that darkness and moodiness reflected in yesterday's image.

There are some moods that don't need external sunshine to make our hearts sing. Who can't remember the delicious drunkeness of being in love? I captured this shot out my (passengers:)) window of a moment like that. The fact that the sun had just gone down and I had forgotten to change my settings at first disappointed me - but then I decided to capitalize on the dreamy, unreal quality that the blur invoked. I like the results.

Spring is finally here in California. The wildflowers are a little late this year due to it being colder than usual, but they're now showing up! In a couple of weeks we should start seeing some pretty awesome wildflowers images from here. There's hope, hang in there.

For the last year I have been wanting to travel to new places around the world. I want to explore, see beautiful things, help people, have fun and practice photography and art.
It seems to be on my mind a lot recently.
A couple of weeks ago was our first really sunny and warm spell of spring. So I zoomed off to the beach at my first chance. I crave the beach. To get to a really nice one I have to travel 2 hours, so it isn't that easy.
It was bliss going there and I am already thinking of when I can next go.
