gray

It had been a year since I'd photographed a senior portrait session. I'd forgotten how much I love that not child, not adult energy. Not black not white, but someone living in the finite space of endless possibility gray. We never know how small that space is until we look back one day to realize it's gone. Irretrievably. Not that I'd want to go back. I'm happy with the lessons I've lived. I like my life, even if it means taking on the thirty-six year old responsibilities. But I felt lucky to be around her for a few hours. The girl at the end of a childhood, on the verge of everything. She reminded me that, that space still exists. It just might look a little differently today.

What about you? What sorts of things make you feel like the world is still full of possibility?

I just posted a series of portraits I did of 10-12 year olds. That little window between kid and teenager to me is filled with possibility. I find their confidence so inspiring.

I love doing senior shoots! My niece is a high school senior this year. She's just been accepted by the last college she had applied to. I suppose I get my sense of possibilty from her. She's just starting out with her life. And although I don't feel that much older than her, there really is a bit of distance between our points in life. I try my hardest not to do the adult thing of "when I was your age...blah blah" and just let her work it all out herself

I think she has a lot of great things to look forward to :)

Especially enjoying the possibility of love and dancing into it:

Recently I found myself standing on the edge of a clearing in the middle of the rainforest. I'd ventured off the beaten path in search of birds (of course) and what I experienced will stick with me for life.

There were about 6-9 rufous breasted hermit hummingbirds buzzing around me, flitting from flower to flower. It never even crossed my mind to lift the camera...I never would have captured them anyways.

One noticed me and came over and hovered what seemed like mere inches from my face. He seemed to be checking me out...he then let out a burst of chatter, almost chastising me for intruding on their sanctuary before flying off to resume his task.

It had been pouring off and on and most had sought shelter, but the multitude of mini rainbows that were shimmering from tree to tree were impossible to resist. A rainbow led me to a small slice of heaven so now every time I see one I'm reminded that the possibilities are endless.

This particular one broke out just as our ship was leaving port...a fitting farewell that day and a reminder that anything is possible if you open yourself up to it. :)

My husband and I recently moved to a new city and there is nothing like the possibility of ADVENTURE in new coffeehouses and hidden spaces and local's only play spots. I'm excited and challenged every time I leave the house.

I took this photograph of our reflections (http://whichwayishomeagain.blogspot.com/2011/03/our-reflections-spent-afternoon.html) as we were exploring a new part of Seattle last week. I love the energy as I PULL him towards the next bright and shiny possibility.

New growth, blue skies, a bird singing its heart out - these things remind me of all the joyful possibilities still ahead.

Being a mom to a toddler has its trying moments. But then there are the times when -- through his eyes -- the world seems new again. http://journeyleaf.typepad.com/journeyleaf/2011/04/gnome-hideout.html

When I let go of the restraints we put on ourselves and play, thanks when I see the possibilities open up.

I'm a big believer in the Law of Attraction and that's what makes me realize that every possibility is available to me. I love photography and although I have a studio at home, I rarely do portrait photography unless it's for fun. I got the bug recently and wanted to do a session, put an ad on Craigslist and found three volunteers. I'm still in contact with previous models - so I have 5 people to photograph over the next month just for fun.

AND in the process, I met a new artist who is fast becoming a great friend. See - every possibility is available!

Here are a few portrait shoots I've done and loved:

I am alittle late but please forgive me as I only came across this site now.

She makes me see possibilities.

Since she came along the world is so much better, she will never know the difference she has made.

Take care of each other.
