print me

I think all of us, in some form or fashion, grew up with the instant gratification of photography. Sometimes it was the polaroid that jumped out of the sx-70 to be developed. Most of the time, it was waiting a few days to save up babysitting money in order to pick up prints at the drugstore. And often, it was life revealing itself in the slow motion stir that came from behind the closed door of the darkroom.

I know I've said it before. But I'll say it again: photography is meant to be held.

In this day of instant everything I find myself taking even more photos while I'm on the go. This means my iphone has become a great resource for documenting my everyday ordinary magical moments. The same day I took this photo with my Nikon, I also played with my iphone a bit and came up with a different perspective on the same thrifted hat. I am still loyal to my Nikon, but most days I swing towards the lightheartedness and ease of the iphone.

So, how easy is it to get your mobile images off your phones and into print? For those of you shooting with an iphone, I've recently discovered a great app that gets your prints in hand! Postal Pix is my new go-to instant gratification for all things iphotography related. No, they're not paying me to say that, I simply love the fast and convenient service they provide and the quality of their prints is great too. I've placed quite a few orders and I'm turning on all my iphone friends to their services! If you're on an iphone and you love prints in hand, you gotta check them out.

Today, share with us your everyday ordinary magical moments taken with a phone camera

My Nikon is still my favourite, especially due to the reason that I only own a lousy cam on my iphone 3 (not even 3GS) ;-)
But sometimes this 'lousyness' doesn't matter:

I loooooooooooooooove your shot, Meredith, it is so fun and creative!
mine has not been taken with an iphone, but with a much simpler and less powerful mobile camera, an image to remember a moment of peace, learning and joy (offline but still with shuttersisters!):

I think that when I quit thinking about ISO, shutter speed, aperture and so on, I really focus on vision.

I don't have an iPhone, but I have my trusty Droid and I've taken some fun pictures with it. Here are a couple of portraits plus a recent favorite:

Like most, I still prefer my DSLR, but my iPhone is ALWAYS in my pocket. Lately I've discovered the fun of Instagram (onecraftychick) and sync most of my photos to my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25457256@N03/ . This is my current fav: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25457256@N03/5938519730/in/photostream because sometimes life is like an alley in that sometimes you have to walk through the dark to get to the light.

Love these images, though.

i love my phone camera. love! it's not an iphone, but still. i love it. i've been in the habit of taking a picture of my feet at work, at the end of the day before heading home, when i can at last breathe. it documents my days in a funny way. this is one that always makes me smile. from last december:

Thank you so much for the link! I have uploaded some to Snapfish, but this looks easy and I can't wait to try the app out. Have you printed square images before (like Instagram & Hipstamatic)? Here is a pic from my Flickr stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50654891@N07/5939830347/

I love taking photos with my iPad (no iPhone yet, waiting for the 8 megapixel camera) and love the community that's building on Instagram... we get a glimpse into the everyday life of what was previously our Flickr friends or in some cases our "Picture" friends.

I love the flare that you can get with the iPad camera. Here's a shot taken at one of our Thursday night concerts at the local park.

THANK YOU!

Oh man, I love the term "ordinary magical moments" SO MUCH. I might steal it, no OK, I will steal it. It's perfect. I am also loyal to my Nikon and in save for two images, I don't upload any iPhone photos to my flickr stream. That being said, I am madly addicted to Instagram so I know exactly what you speak of. I have not tried printing any of my shots but you have inspired me to do so! Here are a couple of my images:

I love iphone pictures! I'm constantly trying to get the "perfect" imperfect shot. And I just downloaded postal pix the other day but I haven't tried it yet.

Most of my pictures this year are taken with my iPhone! Here is one of my faves!

Also if you don't have a square format one the target photo place has a way for you to plug in your phone and get the pictures off of it, just bring your cord. The ones with the sqare format probably would not print right but others would!

Here's a couple from the Cataldo Mission, taken with my crappy phone after the battery on my Nikon died. You can bet I bought a backup battery the next week!

My Flickr stream is bursting with Instagram shots lately too. It's so fun to have something fun, compact, yet challenging to play around with. It also attracts much less attention in public. I read about another option for printing your camera phone shots just today! http://www.petapixel.com/2011/07/19/instant-instagram-books-by-blurb/

When I was a little girl, I had Barbies. This is not exceptional by any means, however I did not play with them like other little girls. I also had a 110 camera that was in the shape of She-Ra's pink castle. I used to 'style' my Barbies but cutting their hair, repurposing their skirts for headdresses, and art directing them (aka, carefully placing them in strategic positioning for proper lighting and cropping) on 'location'. These including a bush in my front lawn (the jungle), my kiddie pool (the ocean), and pieces of cardboard (backdrops). Until recently, I was embarrassed by these. I have kept every single photo I have taken since I got my first camera. Those have been hidden away. But on my next trip home, I can't wait to take them out. I realize now how special they are to the roots of my philosophy on photography.

Shoot all the time. Every time. And don't worry about the results.

I was averse to the smartphone cameras/filters at first, but then came to the realization that, in a way, these are the new Polaroids. Instant gratification. Shooting while unsure what the result will be. Yet the phone is smaller, more compact, and MUCH cheaper to use.

These are all from my Android, on picplz:

some of my favorites:

while these are from Instagram on my iPad (a mix of mobile/tablet/scans):

I love taking pics with my iphone and using Instagram for cool effects. I'm just frustrated that the pictures aren't great resolution when they show larger....because they look so great when they are little!! Especially after seeing all of the awesome cell phone pics in Pioneer Woman's latest assignment.

Anyway, here is one of my daughter and her aunt's baby goat, Beans, that I just love.
