lingering light

"The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire." -Pamela Hansford Johnson

The few extra hours of sunlight of this season are such a gift don't you agree?  I love the magical time of sunset just before dusk comes. Everything bathed in gold. Objects become silhouetted in darkness. I click and click away as the sun sinks deeper into the horizon and the light dances on the water. Goodnight sun. Soon seasons will change and the light will shift and I will miss these long summer nights. Have you captured some late day magic of your own lately? Do you find yourself lingering longer than usual to soak up those few extra minutes of light?

Share some of your own golden goodness with us here today.

ohh.. i love these golden shots.. my faves.. just cant resist myself from clicking these every time i get a chance.

A shot from terrace on a late evening: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charul_ajmera/5990163682/

this one was on a trip to my homeland, taken from the car window: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charul_ajmera/5979976129/in/photostream

early morning sun peeing in my window: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charul_ajmera/5591024781/in/photostream

and these two shots are taken between a difference of few mins, in the late evenings how sky color changes with every minute is so amazing, and here is the proof for that:

On a recent trip to Key West I drug my husband to the HOT viewing of sunset at Mallory Square. I think I have submitted one before that looks similar, but this is my favorite.

Lingering Light; don't you love that way that rolls off your tongue?I have two that come to mind for lingering light:

A landscape of the beach capturing blue light: http://dorisrudddesigns.wordpress.com/2010/10/09/october-9-2010/

A close up of a red rose at dusk: http://dorisrudddesigns.wordpress.com/2010/04/27/red-rose-at-dusk/

Pictures like this one always remind of the long Iceland summer days which I tried to capture with those two photos:

I love your sunset photo - the silhouette is adorable.

My blog post today is actually a series of sunset shots that I took while playing around with my white balance settings. The results are kinda neat:

I adore this sunset photo I took of my parents - can't beat a photo of your parents holding hands after 35 years of marriage: http://www.jenniferkrafchik.com/2011/04/starbursts-photography-tips-and-tricks.html

And here's a sunset shot of one of my favorite spots:

Can you tell I like to take sunset photos? :)

Happy Day everyone!

We walk every day after supper - the days are getting noticably shorter.
For now the sun is gilding the pastures and their occupants.

I do love the light at the end of day this time of year. I've enjoyed your beautiful shots and would like to share one of mine taken during a farm dinner in the Willamette Valley. The sun was just dropping behind the hill and lit the wine glasses beautifully. A magical evening for sure!

Here in Arizona the nights aren't much longer than the rest of the year. But I managed to capture the last of the sunlight coming through the pine trees in a cabin near Flagstaff -- the muted light gave me a unique perspective of the forest. http://decentxposure.ca/exblog/?p=650. Not really a golden sunset shot, but one that was taken in the last minutes of light -- lingering with a glass of wine in my hand.
