Superhero Photo Challenge: Twilight

I saw the movie Twilight a few weeks ago, the weekend it premiered, with a sold out crowd of teens and tweens. My husband and I giggled (and felt wonderfully old) as throngs of girls screamed each time the hunky vampire Edward showed up on the screen. It was so much fun.

Ever since, I have been thinking about twilight in general and what a magical time of day it is. The colors in the sky are often so brilliant in contrast to the grey sheen over the rest of the world. This week's challenge is to capture life at twilight. What does your world look like during this little sliver of time?

For the giveaway today, I'd like to offer up something from my company Superhero Designs. The newest item at Superhero is a starburst pendant. It's not your typical star, but a bit more organic and sea creature like; something that evokes a burst of energy or joy. It also has the word "joy" engraved on the back. I am excited for one of you shutter sisters to have it. Just comment on this post and you'll be entered in the drawing!

Congratualtions to Mod Mom of Modobjectathome for winning your very own Joy Jersey!

Oh I have been coveting this necklace! We aren't in a position right now for me to treat myself so it would be an awfully neat giveaway to win.

I love how this photo evokes that certain sense of secret anticipation that dusk often brings: the night ahead is unknown, beckoning us with mystery. We can see it glimmering in the space between the buildings, as though they have lowered their heads together to discuss the mundane details of the day and we must pass through this impromptu gate to reach the welcoming darkness beyond.

Your photos are always such a joy, Andrea. This one is particularly lovely.

Does anyone but me always recite the little poem "Red sky at night, sailor's delight" whenever they see a beautiful sunset at twilight? It's my favorite time of day.
December 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterZarah
And very pretty it is!
December 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy
That is beautiful! I laughed at your experience at Twilight. I saw it in the middle of a school day, so I was in a theater full of moms. :)

Good evening shuttersisters,

Here's a sprinkling of twilight type stuff for you.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickythomasphotography/3061383895/

i love the necklace but i dont like twilight. well, that said, i like twilight in summer when you've had a full day and you've relaxed after your evening meal in the garden and the kids are in bed and its kind of romantic just the two of you and the sun going down gloriously on a balmy day.

in winter, twilight seems to be cold and sudden. a shutter on the day slammed down at 4pm.

I'll say hurrah for summer twilight (and hurrah for a necklace like that!) though.

have a lovely one

Lovely necklace. I just finished reading the book "Twilight" and have yet to see the movie. I'm afraid it won't be as good as the book.
