Superhero Photo Challenge: Twilight

I saw the movie Twilight a few weeks ago, the weekend it premiered, with a sold out crowd of teens and tweens. My husband and I giggled (and felt wonderfully old) as throngs of girls screamed each time the hunky vampire Edward showed up on the screen. It was so much fun.

Ever since, I have been thinking about twilight in general and what a magical time of day it is. The colors in the sky are often so brilliant in contrast to the grey sheen over the rest of the world. This week's challenge is to capture life at twilight. What does your world look like during this little sliver of time?

For the giveaway today, I'd like to offer up something from my company Superhero Designs. The newest item at Superhero is a starburst pendant. It's not your typical star, but a bit more organic and sea creature like; something that evokes a burst of energy or joy. It also has the word "joy" engraved on the back. I am excited for one of you shutter sisters to have it. Just comment on this post and you'll be entered in the drawing!

Congratualtions to Mod Mom of Modobjectathome for winning your very own Joy Jersey!

Beautiful that necklace, and with a good reminder, too.

Man, twilight is absolutely my favorite time of day. It feels a lot like being underwater, I think. Silky, heavy, full.

Andrea, I love the new necklace. It seems like a thought bubble that I would put above my superhero self head in a comic strip with "Yoink!" or "Nuh-unhhh!" inside it.

I am fortunate enough to own 2 other Superhero necklaces and just love this one!

A starburst would be amazing!

My husband and I are living at my in-laws ,and I seem to catch a view of twilight several times a week here. I really enjoy it and feel like it is a time to just breathe and notice the world around me.

I also really enjoy that necklace....:)

My favourite time of day. I have yet to master the art of taking the perfect shot but the skies usually do most of the work :). Thank you for the inspiration.

Love your necklaces (and Twilight) :)

The thing I love most about twilight is the purple quality to the light just as day is being exchanged for night. There's just something magical about it.
December 6, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpaula
That is just about the cutest necklace I have seen - love it!
December 6, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterzalaine
Beautiful picture - stunning necklace!! Joy is my favorite word for this season. I love this time of year and try to enjoy every minute of it.

What a great necklace!

That pic has such a graphic feel, but such a soft subject. The darkness coming so early around here, made this a tough challenge, but I'm glad I had the prompt. Winter especially, makes me look to the winding down of the day moreso than the other seasons.

Most of mine are sunsets, this should qualify as twilight.

I have adored this necklace since you first put it out! So cute. As for Twilight, it is on my list during my post Christmas/pre New Year break. Gotta see it!

I have been lusting after the morning sunrise colors myself lately. Trouble is, i know that beyond my cozy front bay window it is like 2 degrees out in the morning. thanks for the inspiration. i'll have to get out there and just do it! =)

Love the necklace. i love that it reads "joy" in the hidden side closest to the wearer.hope it's me! =)

I'm a fan of all of Andrea's work. I love jewelry but never buy any for myself. The one exception to that is my Superhero Chlorine necklace. I do indeed feel like Wonder Woman when I wear it. A starburst would only add to my super powers.

Hope I'm not too late! I love it. Apart from mosquitos for us at this time of year twilight is gorgeous.

Funny that this week's challenge is 'twilight'. I've been taking lots of twilight photos lately. I'm not into the book & movie 'Twilight', however. The necklace is beautiful :) I'd love to give one to my friend for her birthday, later this month. :) Here's a picture of twilight in my little corner of the world: http://im-up-for-the-challenge.blogspot.com/2008/12/twilight.html

It's my favorite time of day/night too...and of course I can't help thinking of the Weepies...
December 6, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrachel
Andrea, I may be too late for the draw but I'd still like to comment. I love that starburst pendant so much. Here on our farm we are always very aware of the skies and the transitions from day to night. Interestingly, a photo I took at twilight last year is one that I am sending out in my Christmas cards this year:

(without the ugly copyright notice of course).

Good luck to whoever wins that beauty of a necklace.

The dimming of the day... There is that point in the day when everything literally glows as we are caught between day and night. I make it a point to slow down and really enjoy it wherever I am.
